How do I offer a free consultation?
Updated
A free consultation is a short video call with a new student before the first lesson. You can add one yourself in the coach dash. The student pays nothing, and you are not paid for the call.
Before you start
Set up online lessons first. You need an online teaching location. Under How will students get their meeting link?, add a default meeting link or choose Share a link before each lesson.
If online lessons are not set up, you cannot add a consultation. The card shows Set up online lessons below first: add your meeting link.
Add a free consultation
- Log in to the coach dash at app.teachme.to.
- In the menu, open What I sell.
- Next to Private Lessons (Online), tap Manage.
- Find the Free consultation card and tap Add.
- Under Length, choose 15 min or 30 min.
- Enter a Name. The default name is Free consultation.
- Describe the call in What you'll cover (optional). This step is optional.
- Tap Add consultation.
You can have one free consultation at a time. You add and edit it in the coach dash only. The Coach App does not have this option.
Add the video call link
After you add the consultation, the card shows a Video call link field. Students get this link in their confirmation and reminder.
- Paste your Zoom, Google Meet, or other meeting link.
- Tap Save.
If the card shows Add a video link so students can join., add the link before students book.
Edit, hide, or delete it
- To change the length, name, or description, tap Edit on the card. Then tap Save.
- To show or hide it on your site, tap Options and turn Show on your site on or off. The card then shows On your site or Hidden.
- To remove it, tap Options, tap Delete, and tap Delete again to confirm. Students can no longer book it. Calls already booked stay on your calendar.
How students book it
- Each consultation is for one student.
- The student picks a time from your calendar when they book.
- The call is online, at your online teaching location.
- The student does not enter a card.
- Each student gets one free consultation with you.
Students can also tap Book a free consultation on your website, when you offer one.
