Growing up in Canada, I competed in tennis throughout my childhood and won the Canadian nationals at age 13! I consistently ranked within the top three in Canada throughout my junior years, which led to a full scholarship to play Division 1 NCAA tennis at the University of Virginia. I competed all four years alongside my identical twin sister – what an experience! After graduating, I realized my passion for tennis and fitness, and now I have over 15 years of experience coaching. "I used to be a defensive tackle (DT) in a NCAA football team. When I first started working with coach Howard, I was 5'10" and 245lbs. I was really committed to tennis. Sometimes I'd drive an hour one way for lessons twice during the weekend. I soaked up everything coach Howard taught me, like a sponge, especially working on my serve and return. After about 9 months, coach suggested I start playing locally instead of driving that distance. I jumped right in and started playing in a 2.5 league. Within 15 months of learning from coach Howard, I was down to 200 pounds. I am 180 pounds now.
