How does tipping work?

Tips are an optional way to thank your coach. You can tip in the Student App after you rate a lesson, or when you read a progress report. Your coach gets 100% of your tip.
Tip After a Lesson
After a lesson, the app asks you to rate it. When you give 4 or 5 stars, you see Add a tip under the rating.
- Choose one of the three suggested amounts, or tap Enter custom amount
- Tap Submit & tip to send your rating and your tip
To rate the lesson without a tip, choose No tip.
The suggested amounts come from your coach. By default, they are 10%, 20%, and 30% of the price you paid for one lesson, rounded up to whole dollars.
Tip From a Progress Report
When your coach sends a progress report, you can thank them at the bottom of the report:
- Tap Tip & say thanks to choose a tip amount
- Tap Just say thanks to send thanks without a tip

How You Pay
- The tip goes to your saved payment method in one tap.
- If you have no saved payment method, the app asks you to add one.
- You can tip once for each lesson.
For Coaches: Set Up Tips
You choose whether students see a tip option, and which amounts they see.
- Open the Coach App and tap the Profile tab
- Open your listing
- Under Your lessons, tap Tips
- Turn Ask students for a tip after lessons on or off
- Under Suggested amounts, choose Percent of the lesson price or Dollar amounts, and set three amounts
Percent amounts go from 5% to 30%. Dollar amounts go from $1 to $50. Tap Reset to recommended to go back to the default amounts. The Tips screen also shows your tips from the last 90 days.
A tip shows next to the student's stars on their review, and as a Tip payout on the lesson. You keep 100% of every tip. To learn when payouts arrive, see What is the payout schedule?
