Chen Chen was hired as the head women's tennis coach at Salem State in 2022. Chen has been the head mens' tennis coach since 2020 after playing for the Vikings for four seasons. A two-time captain of the Salem State men's tennis team. He earned first and second team All-Little East Conference honors three separate times during his career. Chen captained Salem State to just their second Little East Conference Tournament Championship and fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018. His 29 doubles wins currently rank second all-time in program history. A Dean's List member, he was a three-time All-Little East All-Academic selection and three-time National Scholar Athlete Day Award winner. Chen also became the first former player and head coach to win the LEC conference in 2023. Currently live in North Andover, MA.

While I am new to coaching, my approach is built on nearly two decades of personal dedication, competitive play, and a deep understanding of the sport’s physical and mental demands. I specialize in helping players develop solid fundamentals, improve match confidence, and build mental toughness—skills I’ve honed through years of personal play and training. My goal is to foster a positive and motivating environment where players can grow their game, whether they’re beginners learning the basics or intermediate players looking to refine their form and strategy. I am currently welcoming students of all ages and levels who are eager to learn, grow, and enjoy the game of tennis with a coach who truly loves the sport and understands what it takes to improve
