As a former D1-D2 athlete with 9 years of experience and coaching other teammates, I am passionate about the game of tennis and helping players of all levels reach their full potential on the court. I combine proven techniques with personalized strategies to cultivate a love for the game and achieve lasting results. Starting out as number 2 singles & doubles in high school, playing d3 in college starting as number 13; I took upon myself to get better training day in and day out by myself researching the game as well as crafting my skill. Within my sophomore year of college I moved up to D2 becoming the men’s/women’s captain while playing number 2 doubles and singles. My Junior-senior year of college I continued to hone my skills, leveling up to number 1 singles & doubles plus captain for Frostburg State University playing D1-D2 division Universities. I’m someone who has been in the position of being hungry striving to do better, which I would love to do the same for others! Happy to teach the fundamentals, help sharpen players tennis game as well as match play scenarios.

Before moving to MD, I had the privilege of helping rebuild one of New Jersey’s most historic football programs as the Director of Coaching & Head Coach for the Paulsboro Midget Football Organization. Together, we turned the program into a powerhouse, winning six championships and creating a sense of pride and unity in the community. I established my tennis career in 1996 competing through high school and two years on the collegiate level for the University of the District of Columbia. During that time period I traveled to the United States Tennis Association National event as well as the American Tennis Association National event. In 1997 I was a finalist in many local tournaments and statewide. I carried my championship spirit through 1998 quickly climbing the state of Maryland local ranking system. In 1999 my doubles partner and I finished in 2nd place at the ATA National event. Talking about excited!

I began playing tennis before I could walk. By age 11 I competed year-round in the Texas Junior Circuit. From age 9 to 13 I was coached by the greats John Wilkerson and Edgar Arnold and was on track to begin competing nationally by age 14. I have competed in tennis, football, and baseball at the collegiate, and professional levels for the majority of my life.

Ferdinand is a USTA and PTR licensed tennis coach with over three decades of experience as a classroom teacher. A former collegiate athlete in soccer and track & field, he brings a multifaceted approach to coaching. As a professional stringer and dedicated mentor, Ferdinand specializes in junior and adult development programs, focusing on skill-building and fostering a love for the game. With a rich background in education and athletics, Ferdinand is passionate about helping players of all ages achieve their full potential on the court.
