David was absolutely fantastic and had both our kids (ages 5 and 9) comfortable on a surf board very quickly. If you have a surfboard that you’d like to learn on, I’d encourage you to bring it in order to build familiarity with your own board! Otherwise, I do have some boards for you to use.

Water can be cold. Now that summers here we can get away without wetsuits but if you get cold easy I recommend renting one. I have all the boards necessary for any skill type All you need to bring is a towel, swimwear and a water bottle is recommended. I have face sunscreen designed for surfing Rash guard can be provided, but not necessary. I personally wear a regular t-shirt in the water when I’m surfing in boardshorts and want to prevent rashes.

Working at summer camps as a water ski instructor and lifeguard, I have experience teaching children water sports. For kids, it is very important to choose equipment and surf conditions that are suitable not only for their age but their skill level and water competency. Just as important though, is making them feel secure and confident throughout the lesson. Therefore it is key that the parent or guardian work with me to tailor the lesson for their child(ren).
