We’ll start on the beach covering ocean safety, surf etiquette, and wave basics before moving into paddling technique, the pop-up, and proper stance. Once in the water, I’ll push you into small, safe waves so you can get your first wave and build confidence right away.
At this stage, you’ll be confidently catching waves on your own, so the focus shifts to refining technique and exploring more challenging conditions. We’ll work on generating and maintaining speed, improving flow between maneuvers, and reading the lineup like a seasoned surfer. You’ll start practicing more advanced turns, better wave selection, and adapting to different breaks so you can surf with confidence anywhere.
These sessions focus on building speed, improving positioning, and linking basic maneuvers like bottom turns and cutbacks. You’ll learn to read the ocean more effectively, choose better waves, and surf with consistency and style, setting you up to handle more challenging conditions.
Once you’ve had your first taste of surfing, we’ll work on choosing the right waves, positioning yourself in the lineup, and paddling into waves without assistance. You’ll refine your pop-up, start turning with gentle weight shifts, and learn how to ride down the line with more control.
We’ll start with a detailed evaluation of your surfing, either in real time or with pre recorded clips, so we can pinpoint your strengths and areas for improvement. From there we’ll set specific performance goals and begin working on high impact adjustments like shoulder alignment, stance refinement, and body positioning to unlock more power and flow.
At this stage it’s about sharpening your skill set for competition or high level free surfing. We’ll combine in-water coaching with video analysis, advanced surf specific mobility training, and mental strategies to perform under pressure. The focus is on consistency, creativity, and executing your best surfing in any lineup.
We’ll take a deeper look into wave strategy, timing, and advanced body movements. Each session will be paired with ongoing video review to identify micro adjustments for maximizing speed, control, and style. You’ll refine maneuvers like roundhouses, snaps, and barrel riding while learning how to adapt them to different conditions and boards.
These sessions focus on translating our first lesson insights into tangible changes in the water. You’ll work on precision maneuvers, tighter turns, and more efficient transitions. We will introduce at-home mobility and strength exercises that directly support your surfing mechanics, helping you progress faster between sessions.
