Aloha friends! I’m Mikey and I’m just a dude that has been surfing for 30 years now. I started as a teen to be cool and win over the cute girls but I quickly became obsessed! Surfing is my life and I’m a surfer. I love to share the stoke of surfing! It’s the most exhilarating and rewarding sport. Actually, I would call surfing a lifestyle. I hope to meet y’all and teach you how to catch a bunch of waves and to appreciate the beauty of the ocean. Y’all will also learn to respect the power of ocean so I keep it safe and most importantly super fun! See ya out in the water and stay stoked!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonMy beginner lesson is to learn about the contantly changing conditions with the ocean in terms of tides, currents, swell direction, winds, etc. We will first take a quick swim in the ocean to feel the water temperature and get acclimatized. You’ll learn to safely how to paddle out and negotiate the white water. Next, I’ll gauge your paddling speed and have you catch a wave and ride in in the prone position to feel the sense of speed and how the board moves in the ocean. After that, you’ll catch more waves and learn how to quickly stand up, drop down the face of the wave, and then ride out the white water going straight into the wave energy dissipates. You’ll also learn how to safely wipe out (because you will numerous times)! The timing of the pop up to effectively drop into a wave is the most critical part of surfing and if you’re just one single second off then wipe out! This process is very difficult and can take several training sessions to master it. But once you do, I guarantee it’ll be an exhilarating and rewarding experience and you’ll be addicted to mother oceans natural ride!
Lesson 4-10Once you mastered identifying waves, catching them on your own paddling strength/speed, and properly standing up and riding the entire wave going straight into the white water, we’ll slowly transition into intermediate status with turning into the face of the waves. You’ll learn how to angle/trim on the face of the wave and you’ll also slowly learn how to do basic off the bottom and off the top turns.
What you need to bringYou bring your own board and wetsuit.
What I can bringI have a beginner softop 9 ft longboard that is super user friendly with generous flotation so you can easily learn the basics of catching a wave, popping up, and going straight. I also have a mens fullsuit available. I only have size medium which is 5’7-5’10, 155-170lbs.
