Pricing, packs, and prepaid lessons
Updated
This page is the source for every answer about how lesson prices work. Other articles link here instead of restating it.
You pay when you book
- You pay for your lessons at checkout.
- TeachMe.To does not offer a free first lesson.
- If you set up weekly lessons, your card is also charged automatically later. See the weekly lessons section below.
- If you have a plan, it charges your card on the date shown in Billing. See Plans and renewals.
Single lessons and packs
You can buy a single lesson or a pack of lessons. A bigger pack has a lower price per lesson. Checkout shows the pack sizes and prices that the coach offers.
Lessons you paid for and have not scheduled are prepaid lessons. Prepaid lessons, single lessons and packs, are valid for 12 months from the purchase date. See Refunds and lesson expiry.
Custom packages at a business
Some businesses on TeachMe.To offer their own lesson packages.
- Checkout lists packages at the business's standard lesson length first, from the fewest lessons to the most. Packages with other lesson lengths follow, from the shortest length to the longest. When a custom package and a standard pack have the same length and number of lessons, the standard pack comes first.
- Each custom package shows its name, lesson length, number of lessons, a short description, and its price.
- A custom package has a lesson length of 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes.
- The price of a custom package can differ between coaches at the same business.
- Some businesses offer only custom packages. Then checkout shows no standard packs.
- A custom package at the standard lesson length can show a percent saving against a single lesson, such as 10% off. A custom package with a different lesson length does not show a percent saving.
- You book a custom package the same way you book a standard pack.
Coaches who also teach at a business
Some coaches teach at a business on TeachMe.To and also at their own locations. Their browse card shows the business logo.
- The business location appears in the coach's list of locations, with the business logo.
- The packs and prices on the profile are for the location you choose. A line above the packs names that location.
- When you open the profile without choosing a location, it shows the location with the lowest price per lesson.
- At the business location, you see the business's packages and prices. You book and pay through the business, and the business confirms your lessons.
- At any other location, you see the coach's own packs and prices, and you book with the coach.
- Prepaid lessons work only where you bought them. Lessons bought at the business cannot be used at the coach's own locations, and the reverse.
Intro fee on smaller packs
Some coaches show a pack price as a price per lesson plus a first-time intro fee. The intro fee is lower on bigger packs and is waived on the 10-pack. The total is the same as the pack price, and checkout shows it before you pay. Returning students see the returning student price and no intro fee.
On these packs, "Save" is the intro fee you skip compared with a single lesson. For example, if a single lesson has a $55 intro fee, the 10-pack shows "Save $55".
Returning student price
After your first paid purchase, more lessons cost less. The returning student price applies when you buy:
- more lessons in the Student App,
- weekly lessons and their automatic recharge,
- lessons from the student website, or from a booking link from our team,
- lessons at checkout on teachme.to. When you tap Pay, we show your returning student price before your card is charged.
Each lesson costs the coach's rate, plus a fixed TeachMe.To fee per lesson, plus card processing. The price per lesson is the same for any number of lessons.
- Your first purchase can be with any coach and any skill.
- A paid trial lesson alone does not count as a first purchase.
- When you book on the TeachMe.To website without a link from the student website or our team, you see the regular prices.
Weekly lessons
You can set a weekly lesson time in the Student App or student website. Your coach can propose a time in the Coach App or coach dashboard.
- Your coach can send you a weekly time. You can also propose a weekly time to a coach you booked before.
- Weekly lessons use your prepaid lessons. When you have one prepaid lesson left, TeachMe.To charges your card automatically for more lessons.
- You review the weekly lesson price and agree to automatic recharge before the plan starts.
- TeachMe.To weekly prices use the returning student price. The review shows any location fees.
- CoachSite weekly prices use the selected offering's regular price and purchase quantity. The review shows fees and currency.
- A free first lesson or welcome discount does not repeat on automatic recharge.
- CoachSite defaults to your previous offering when it is available and matches your lessons.
- Choose your automatic recharge package after choosing your location and weekly time.
- You can choose another eligible CoachSite package before agreeing to its price and automatic recharge.
- If your previous offering is unavailable, choose a current paid offering. We do not select the cheapest package.
- We send a reminder at least 24 hours before each automatic recharge.
- Automatic charges go to your card. Gift card balances and discounts do not apply to them.
- You can pause, skip a week, or stop weekly lessons in the Student App or student website.
- Skipping a lesson follows your coach's cancellation policy.
- Stopping prevents future automatic charges. A payment already processing may still finish. Your prepaid lessons stay in your account.
Discounts do not combine
You can use one discount on a purchase. If more than one discount applies, you get the largest one. Discounts include promo codes, partner discounts, and the friend referral discount.
A gift card balance still applies after the discount.
Friend referral discount
When a TeachMe.To student shares their referral link with you, you get $25 off your first booking.
- The discount is for new customers only.
- You cannot use your own link.
- The student who shared the link gets $25 toward their next lessons when your discount applies.
The price you see on a coach
The price on a coach's card and profile is the lowest price per lesson. That is the per-lesson price of the coach's largest pack.
The price you see on a city page
A city page shows the typical starting price for lessons in that city. It is the median of the lowest price per lesson across active coaches who teach there. A coach's own price can be higher or lower, and a single lesson costs more per lesson. Checkout shows the exact price before you pay.
Location fees are separate
Some locations charge a fee. The fee is not included in the lesson price. The location card on the coach's profile shows the fee. See Who reserves the lesson location.
On a booking link from our team, the price per lesson already includes any fees.
Group lessons
You can book one lesson for more than one person when the coach teaches groups. Each extra person adds to the lesson price. The price for each person is lower than the price of a private lesson.
Changing a booked lesson
Before an upcoming lesson starts, you can make it longer or add a person. You pay the difference at the price you paid. A shorter lesson or fewer people isn't refunded.
Adding a person applies to all remaining lessons on that purchase, and your coach confirms it. Remaining lessons include prepaid lessons you haven't scheduled yet.
For a CoachSite purchase, your coach sets the price.
To ask for a change, message your coach or contact support, and a Lesson Coordinator will help. For a CoachSite purchase, ask your coach.
Coaches set their own rates
Coaches are independent and set the rate they want to earn. The price you pay includes the coach's rate and TeachMe.To's fees.
