Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn the first lesson we will discuss your overall goals and objectives for taking lessons as well as the frequency to meet those goals. If you are a beginner we will start with fundamentals of the game. If you are experienced, we will play a friendly match to help me assess your overall playing ability and technique.
Lesson 11+By the 11th lesson, you will be more confident with the fundamentals of the game and be able to play a full match.
Lesson 4-10By the 4th to 10th lesson, you will become more comfortable with basic shots and scoring and will be able to play a full set. We will also start introducing the serve.
Lesson 2-3By the 2nd and 3rd lesson, you will be introduced to the basic fundamentals of the game including the layout of the court and will begin learning basic shots.
Youth players
Working with kidsYounger children will begin with red ball, a slower version of a regulation tennis ball that helps young children build confidence. As they progress or get older, we will continue with orange ball, green ball (increasingly challenging) and eventually work up to a regulation tennis ball. Younger children may also play on a smaller version of a standard tennis court.
Working with teenagersTeenagers are usually stronger and have better fine and gross motor skills. Depending on their experience and athletic ability, I will either begin them with a green ball or regulation tennis ball and court
