Beginner training plan
Your first lessonJust starting off with good hand-eye coordination drills. Drills usually incorporate basic movements of forehand and backhand strokes emphasizing good balance, shoulder turn and hitting through the ball.
Lesson 11+Depending on if they are ready, the 3 serves, flat, slice and kicker serves. Working on short balls and following up at the net for winners.
Lesson 4-10After the introduction of grips with learning to volley and serve. Volleys are completely opposite of groundstrokes so learning to use the right grips and working on consistency. While serves are practiced, start by merely getting them used to the continental grip and later explanation of how to hit a serve in.
Lesson 2-3Working on adding beyond the basics of how spin affects your game. Analyzing how the customer wants to play the game to recommend grips of use.
Youth players
Working with kidsI have worked with kids predominately with I9 in Chesapeake. Kids have to have fun, so all drills are based on fun activities that work on cardio and good hand eye coordination.
Working with teenagersI see so many good teenagers that have the sports ability to be competitive but lack technique. Technique is what makes a person good to great. I personally can hit with any grip on any shot but finding what each person needs and wants with their specific tennis game is going to be analyzed for optimal performance.
