Coach Dennis is an outstanding instructor for first-time adult learners. I trained with him for five months, one to two times per week, with the goal of learning to rally and play socially with friends. By the end of that period, I was rallying consistently and felt confident on the court. His coaching is focused on technique. He emphasizes proper grip, footwork, posture, and body positioning from the start. His attention to detail ensures that form is built correctly and bad habits are avoided. Every correction is purposeful and clearly explained. Dennis also teaches practical game strategy. He explains when to move in for short balls, when to stay back, and how to position effectively for different shot types. His lessons build both skill and court awareness. As progress is made, Dennis increases the challenge with targeted drills to push you to the next level. There is no wasted time or filler in his sessions. With consistent training over five months, I developed the skills and understanding needed to start playing casually. For adults new to tennis who want results-driven, high-quality coaching, Coach Dennis is highly recommended. Dennis has been my son’s tennis coach for about 1.5 years. My son is 7 now and not super into tennis by nature, but Dennis made the lessons fun enough that he actually looked forward to them each week. Dennis is great with kids β€” he knows how to keep them engaged without overwhelming them. He’s really good at mixing games into the lessons so it doesn’t feel too serious, but at the same time, he makes sure they’re learning the right form. Even while playing games, he’ll correct posture, grip, and footwork so they don’t build bad habits. Over time, Dennis introduced all the basics β€” volleys, hitting, serving, rallying β€” in a way that felt natural and fun. My son got to try everything without pressure. If you’re looking for someone who can make tennis fun for kids while still teaching solid fundamentals, Dennis is a great pick. He’s patient, attentive, and knows how to connect with young players.

Highschool varsity doubles player Dennis is a really great coach in the sense that he is passionate for helping people improve and is good at communicating. Any skills or shots I want to master, Dennis explains really eloquently and thoroughly. You can either lead the contents of your lesson or ask Dennis to choose what he thinks will be best to work on and help you improve. Would highly recommend Dennis as his lessons are enjoyable and you will definitely see results in your game.

Coach Dennis Wang is awesome! He’s super patient, fun, and really knows how to keep kids motivated. My son always has a great time at his lessons and comes home excited to tell us what he learned. You can tell Coach Dennis really cares, and that makes a huge difference. Highly recommend!

Dennis coached our 5-year-old for a few months and was fantastic. He was patient, encouraging, and made the lessons fun while still focusing on fundamentals. Our child looked forward to each session and made noticeable progress each time. When Dennis had to move away, he introduced us to his former coach, who has also been great with our kid. We highly recommend Dennis for young beginners!
Hitesh B
Dennis is an exceptional tennis coach with a strong ability to teach both children and adults. I’ve booked multiple sessions with him for my 6-year-old son, and I’ve been thoroughly impressed by how he keeps young learners engaged and fosters a genuine interest in the sport. Seeing my son’s progress inspired me to take a few lessons myself, and I found the experience equally rewarding. Dennis brings tremendous value to any community, and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyoneβ€”whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills.

No nonsense teacher who has helped me play to my strengths and will not let you develop bad habits

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIntroduction to me and getting to know the students. I cover grips, swing path, finish, timing, and mentality. Will often start with drop hand feeds, tosses, then some serving! Footwork will be touched upon and I will be speaking a lot in the first lesson to explain ideas and why I’m teaching it this way.
Lesson 11+More of the same. Games are sprinkled in here and there. Advanced shots are taught: slice, lob, drop shot, angle shots, return of serve. High intensity drills and cardio are demonstrated. New concepts are shown: loading, body weight transfer, stepping in, strategy, counting points. Intensity and level is raised to continue improvement.
Lesson 4-10As players progress, I start focusing on specifics. I will repeat and make sure concepts are taught and transferred over. Concepts such as rotation, body involvement, spin, brushing, are all focused on. Once this correct, I will do more feeds and hitting. Volleys and overheads are started. Games are added periodically.
Lesson 2-3More advanced hand feeds with some feeding incorporated depending on level. Progression of lesson 1. Touches upon new concepts: steps to run to a ball, intensity, ball tracking, spacing. More serve practice with correct fundamentals. One game is played at the end.

Youth players
Working with kidsIt’s very important for me to feel it out with the kids I teach. First and foremost, I strive to make sure lessons are fun - incorporating various drills, asking questions, and playing games to keep lessons interesting. I adjust these methods to the kids’ interest and playing level. For example, if the kid is more focused and loves tennis I’ll work on technique, footwork, and strategy. If the kid is starting off, I incorporate more games and will be more sensitive to their needs.

Working with teenagersI use a similar model as I do with kids, but I tend to push my teens hard because I truly want them to get better. I tend to be more serious and competitive with this age group, but I always make sure my students are having a good time.

What you need to bringA racquet, water, and good mentality!

What I can bringUS open orange balls for kids under 10, US open yellow balls, cones, quick feet circles, overgrips, extra racquet
