Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIntroduction and getting to know the students. I cover grips, swing path, finish, timing, and mentality. Will often start with drop hand feeds, tosses, then some serving. Footwork will be touched upon and I will be speaking a lot in the first lesson to explain ideas and why this is methodology.
Lesson 2-3More advanced hand feeds with some feeding incorporated depending on level. Progression of lesson 1. Touches upon new concepts: steps to run to a ball, intensity, ball tracking, spacing. More serve practice with correct fundamentals. One game is played at the end.
Lesson 4-10As players progress, I start focusing on specifics. I will repeat and make sure concepts are taught and transferred over. Concepts such as rotation, body involvement, spin, brushing, are all focused on. Once this correct, I will do more feeds and hitting. Volleys and overheads are started. Games are added periodically.
Lesson 11+More of the same. Games are sprinkled in here and there. Advanced shots are taught: slice, lob, drop shot, angle shots, return of serve. High intensity drills and cardio are demonstrated. New concepts are shown: loading, body weight transfer, stepping in, strategy, counting points. Intensity and level is raised to continue improvement.
