How does booking work?
Updated
Booking a lesson on TeachMe.To is designed to be fast, secure, and completely transparent. Whether you’re learning a new sport or improving your skills, you can browse coaches near you, choose a time that fits your schedule, and send your coach a lesson request in a few steps.
Step 1: Search for a Coach
Start by visiting teachme.to and searching by:
- Location
- Skill or activity (e.g., golf, tennis, soccer, pickleball, swimming, fitness, guitar etc.)
- Coach availability
Step 2: Select a Coach and Book Your Lesson
Once you’ve found a coach you like, select:
- The type of lesson you want: either a single lesson, or a pack.
- On a coach's own website, each package card lists its packs with the price per lesson. Tap a pack to choose it.
- To train with friends, tap + next to the player count. The pack prices change to the price per player.
- Some packages show Lessons and Players with − and + buttons instead of packs.
- The button at the bottom of the card, such as Book 4 lessons, shows the total for what you chose. A first-purchase discount shows the old price crossed out.
- The lesson length, if the package offers more than one. Tap a length on the package, such as 60 min or 90 min, and the price changes to match. You can also switch it under Lesson length at checkout.
- A day and time slot that works for you
- The best location for taking your lessons. Your coach reserves any location listed on their profile.
If a coach only offers home lessons, enter your address in Lesson address on their checkout page. Choose an autocomplete suggestion to check the coach’s travel area. If the coach also offers venues, choose At your home and the same Lesson address field opens below it. To train at a venue instead, choose At a training location, or the venue itself if the coach lists one or two. If you tap Continue to payment before everything is filled in, checkout scrolls to the first missing field and shows what is left, such as 1 thing left: add your mobile number. After you pick a venue, checkout suggests the next open times. Tap one to choose it, tap See all times to open the full calendar, or tap Schedule later to pick your time after you pay. If none of the open times work, tap the Message first link with your coach's name in the time picker. You can ask your coach a question before you pay. Enter your first name, last name, email address, and phone number. If you already have an account, checkout sends you a 6-digit code to confirm it's you. The code email comes from CoachGrow (support@coachgrow.com) and can take a minute to arrive. If you don't see it, check your Spam and Promotions folders before you tap Resend code. If checkout says your phone number already belongs to an account with a different email, enter that email to get the code by email. If you can't get into that email, tap Text a code to the phone ending in and enter the code we text you. Checkout then saves the email you typed to your account. Checkout may also ask How did you hear about us? It is optional, so you can skip it. Agree to the cancellation policy when checkout asks you to. When you buy a lesson or pack by card, Stripe keeps your card on file so you can tip your coach or book again in one tap. A tip or a new booking is only charged when you confirm it. Plans that renew charge your saved card on their own schedule. See Plans and renewals.
What You May See Before You Pay
On the review step of checkout, you may see a note that your booking is a lesson request. Your coach still needs to confirm it. Not every checkout shows this note.
- "Alex usually confirms within 3 hours." The note uses your coach's name and how fast they usually confirm. Most coaches show 24 hours.
- "Requested:" next to your lesson time. Your coach has not confirmed that time yet.
- "Pick your time after checkout." You see this if you chose to schedule later. You pick your lesson time after you pay.
If your coach doesn't confirm, your money is safe. We'll help you switch to another coach nearby or give you a full refund. See Refunds and lesson expiry.
Step 3: Your Payment Is Processed and the Coach Confirms
After you submit your booking:
- TeachMe.To charges your card
- You manage your lessons in the Student App or on the student dash at student.teachme.to
- Your coach receives the request and usually confirms your lesson within 3, 6, or 24 hours
Right after you pay, your confirmation page shows a loading screen for a few seconds while your payment confirms. Then it shows your booking: your coach, the time you asked for, where the lesson is, your pack, what you paid, and, when we know it, how quickly your coach usually replies. From there you can add the lesson to your calendar, message your coach, or open your receipt. If you don’t have the Student App yet, the page shows getting it as your next step, so you can message your coach and get lesson reminders. If you didn’t pick a time at checkout, the page also asks you to pick one.
After you send a time request in the Student App, the app shows how fast your coach usually confirms. The time is 3, 6, or 24 hours, for example "Alex usually confirms within 6 hours." It is never more than 24 hours.
Most coaches confirm within 24 hours. You’ll receive email, SMS, and in-app updates when your lesson is confirmed.
If your coach can’t take your lessons, hasn’t replied, or scheduling has stalled, we’ll text you and offer to ask other coaches nearby. You choose: ask other coaches, keep waiting for yours, or tell us you’re away until a date up to 60 days out. If you’re away, we don’t ask other coaches or check in about that coach until then. We only ask other coaches when you say so. If you don’t answer, we send one reminder the next day, and then our team reaches out. The same applies to the rest of a pack or subscription after you’ve had lessons with your coach.
If your coach hasn’t replied, we also ask them to reply by a deadline, which you can see from the link in our text. If you choose to keep waiting, we wait until that deadline. If your coach still hasn’t replied by then, we text you once more and ask what you’d like to do. If your coach gets back to you in the meantime, we text you. When they’ve already scheduled or confirmed your lesson, there’s nothing more to do. Otherwise you can keep your coach, or pick another coach from the link.
If no coach near your lesson spot can take your lessons, we may text you to ask whether we should look for coaches up to 25 miles away. If one of them costs more, you see the price and choose before you pay anything. If you say no or don’t answer within two days, our team contacts you about your options.
If scheduling stalls and it isn’t clear why, we may text you to check in. Tap the link and pick one answer: find other coaches, schedule with your coach, not ready yet (we check back in a week), or ask for a refund (our team reviews it, and nothing is refunded automatically). If you don’t answer within two days, our team reaches out.
When other coaches offer to take your lesson, our text names the coach we recommend and their first open time. We pick them for how close they are, how their price compares with what you paid, how reliably they keep lessons, and how fast they replied. Tap the link to book that time in one step, or see all the coaches who offered. Price differences work as for any coach switch: if the coach costs more than you paid, you agree to the difference before anything is booked.
What Happens After Your Lesson Is Confirmed?
Once the coach accepts:
- You’ll see the lesson in your schedule
- You’ll receive reminders before the session
- Your coach may send notes or questions to help tailor the lesson to your goals
If needed, you can also reschedule or cancel. The same cancellation policy applies to every coach on TeachMe.To: you get a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of making your booking and your lesson is not scheduled within the next 24 hours. After your first lesson, our risk-free guarantee gives you 24 hours to ask for a different coach or a refund. See Cancellation and refund policies.
Booking with a Business
Some listings on TeachMe.To are businesses, like a golf center or a karate gym. Booking with a business works a little differently:
- You choose a lesson package or a spot in an event, and you pay on TeachMe.To.
- To read what a package includes, see the Packages section on the business page.
- If the business connects its booking calendar, or your instructor connects their own Google Calendar, you pick your first lesson time at checkout.
- If not, you suggest three times that work for you, a first choice and two backups, and the business confirms one of them.
- Some businesses set your lesson times after you pay. They contact you to schedule.
- We email your receipt and the business's contact details.
- To change or cancel a lesson, contact the business.
Some events show Date TBD — the business has not set a date yet.
- Tap Register interest on the event card to let the business know you want a spot.
- Once enough interest builds up, the business sets a date and reaches out to registered students.
- You are not charged until you confirm a spot after the date is announced.
Some events also show a trial session price alongside the full event price. The trial price is a lower one-off price to try a single session of the event before committing to the full program.
- Select Try 1 session at checkout to book at the trial price.
- A trial purchase reserves one spot for one person. You cannot add extra seats at the trial rate.
- If you decide to continue, you can book the full event at the regular price.
Pricing and policies are set by the business. You see them at checkout before you pay.
Contact a business location
A business can have more than one location. Each location can have its own phone number and email.
- You see them under the location's address on the business page and on each coach's page.
- Tap the phone number to call that location. Tap the email to write to it.
- If a location shows no phone or email, use the business contact details in your receipt email.
If you run a business, add a phone and email to each location on your business page. Leave them blank to use your business contact details.
