About Xavier

Xavier McDaniel Jr., son of the Seattle SuperSonics legend, has transitioned from his basketball career to focus on skill and strength training. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Xavier first gained recognition as a high school champion at Hammond School, playing alongside the renowned Seventh Woods. He continued to excel in college basketball, spending two years at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley under the esteemed coach Lew Hill, where he developed his skills for a professional career. Unfortunately, Xavier’s journey in professional basketball was impacted by a series of injuries, limiting him to two and a half full seasons across international leagues and the American TBL. Now, shifting his focus, he is completing his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Eastern Washington University, through Bellevue College. His mission is to combine his passion for sports and psychology to help individuals heal from trauma, focusing on the connection between mind, body, and spirit. As a coach, Xavier uses basketball as a tool not just for athletic development, but to guide others toward personal growth, whether that leads to a career in professional sports or simply a more balanced life off the court.

What students say...

"Coach Xavier is wonderful with the kids. He’s patient, encouraging, and knows how to explain things in a way they understand. The kids feel comfortable and motivated around him, and we’ve seen their confidence grow. We really appreciate his positive energy and dedication.

About Wayne

I’m Wayne Mendezona, Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Corban University and founder of Quick Handle Basketball. I’ve spent over 30+ years developing athletes and have trained more than 50,000 players—from youth to college and professional levels. I specialize in ball handling, scoring, and game performance—helping athletes build confidence, decision-making, and real in-game results. My training is not just drills—it’s about developing complete players who can perform under pressure, think the game, and separate themselves from the competition. I don’t train average. I train athletes who are serious about growth, discipline, and competing at a higher level. If that’s you, let’s get to work.

What students say...

"My son said Coach Mendo was far and away the most effective coach he's ever worked with! His knowledge, tools, and willingness to share wisdom are incredible. I've never seen my son so impressed by a coach or heard him so enthusiastic about what he learned in a session. Very grateful!

Shooting and scoring

Build a repeatable jump shot, extend your range, and clean up your free throws. Seattle coaches break down your form frame by frame and drill it at game speed.

Ball handling and guard skills

Tighten your handle, change of pace, and combo moves so you can create space off the dribble. Basketball trainers in Seattle run guard-skill work built around live, full-speed reps.

Footwork, defense, and rebounding

Lock in your defensive stance, lateral slides, and closeouts, then box out and finish the possession. A coach in Seattle teaches you to guard your position and own the glass.

Finishing and athleticism

Add layups through contact, both-hand finishes, and a quicker first step. Seattle basketball coaches focus your training on scoring at the rim and playing above it.

Game IQ and decision-making

Learn to read the floor, run pick-and-roll, and make the right pass every trip down. Coaches in Seattle sharpen the mental side of basketball alongside the physical.

Every age and level, ages 5 to 18

Coaches in Seattle teach juniors from as young as 5 through high-school and competitive athletes, tailoring each session to your child's age, level, and goals — whether that is first-time fundamentals, building confidence, or tryout and team prep.

Parents welcome at every basketball lesson

Parents are welcome to stay and watch — many do, especially with younger kids — but it is never required. Either way, your coach shares progress and what to practice between lessons.
