Playing for the past 10+ years and have extensive teaching experience with athletes, kids, and people of all experience levels. 7 handicap. I'm Katy, and over the past four summer school seasons, I've taught junior golf group lessons in camp clinics, catering to ages 3-18. Beyond that, I've developed my coaching skills through 1-on-1 instruction, working with individuals ranging from 14 to 55 years old. Back in 2017, I had the privilege of volunteering as a health & wellness advisor for a D1 Women’s Golf Team for a semester. On the competitive front, I've played against some top golfers like LPGA Rookie of the Year Jillian Hollis, Jessica Porvasnik, Clare Legaspi, Cindy Oh, and more. Before diving into our first lesson, I always start with an assessment to understand each player's personality, their mental game approach, and the unique ways in which they learn. From that foundation, our inaugural lesson will focus on observation—watching how you swing or play. After which, we circle back to mastering the fundamentals, complete with personalized drills. I am an amateur golfer from China with 15 years of playing experience and have studied with five coaches. My best score is 80. I started learning the sport at the age of 40, and my athletic ability is quite average. While learning from different coaches, I noticed a problem: they are too professional and don't understand that our bodies, especially as we get older, simply can't turn as much as they require. Therefore, during my practice sessions, I rely on my own exploration to improve my performance. Many of the issues I encounter are common among amateur players, issues that professional coaches who have been playing since childhood have never faced. So, if you are a beginner, if you are someone who is getting on in years, or if you have average athletic ability, I might be able to teach you better than a professional coach could.
