About your tennis coach

I’m Joao Silverio, an ATP/ITF-experienced coach now based in Boca Raton, Florida. My coaching was shaped in high-performance, Grand Slam-level training environments and built around one core principle: progress should be structured, measurable, and repeatable. Most players don’t stall because they lack effort, they stall because training lacks priorities, clear decisions, and a system. At JSTA, I help juniors and competitive adults develop with purpose: clean technique, smarter patterns, stronger movement, and match habits that hold under pressure. If you want high standards, clear direction, and a development plan you can trust, message me to set up a session.

Training with Joao is intense and specific. No wasted time. We improved my movement to the ball (first step and braking) and my crosscourt backhand pattern to open the court. Then we took it straight into points with targets. Every session builds something.

Thank you for your excellent coaching advices. No other coach has shown such patience and enthusiasm in teaching students. No matter how many mistakes I made while playing, you calmly explained what I did wrong and demonstrated the correct way to do it.

What surprised me most was the mental work: routines between points, emotional control, and competing with discipline. It reminded me of soccer managing the match. I started playing ‘cooler’ and executing under pressure

Serious coach, direct, high standards. He spots the real issue fast, gives simple solutions, and then demands you apply them in real point situations. If you genuinely want to improve, this is the kind of training you need.

My son needed structure and direction, not just hitting. Joao gave him a clear plan: weekly priorities, simple tasks, and how to compete calmly. You can tell he’s coached at a high level, he fixes what matters without overloading the player. Now we have a pathway and we’re seeing real progress.

I come from soccer and I loved that Joao coaches tennis the way a team is coached: structure, roles, and decision-making. It’s not only technique, it’s reading the opponent, when to speed up, when to slow down. He helped me control tempo and choose better in key moments, thanks coach!

Advanced training plan
Your first lesson• I start with clarity: goals, current level, competition schedule, and what “better” means (results, style, specific weapons). • Quick audit across the full game: patterns, shot tolerance, serve/return efficiency, movement, and decision-making under pressure. • I identify the highest-impact levers (usually 2–3) and test them immediately with live reps and point-based drills. • You leave with a clear development roadmap: priorities, training themes, and how we’ll measure progress.
Lesson 11+• Performance-focused coaching: your training becomes personalised around your weapons, tendencies, and opponent patterns. • Advanced detail: point construction, tempo control, mental routines, and execution under pressure (not just technique). • Tournament support approach: pre-match plans, in-session adjustments, and post-match analysis to accelerate learning. • Long-term development cycles: build → test → review → upgrade, with clear performance benchmarks so improvement stays objective.
Lesson 4-10• Technical refinement where it matters: adjustments only if they directly improve outcomes (timing, spacing, contact, repeatability). • Pattern-building and pressure training: cross-to-line transitions, short-ball decisions, defence-to-offence, and closing at the net. • Match simulation becomes consistent: situational scoring, “serve + 1 / return + 1,” and tactical problem-solving against specific styles. • Physical and movement integration: first-step, braking, recovery, and efficiency, so the game holds up under speed and fatigue. • Regular reviews to keep progress measurable and to adjust the plan based on what’s working.
Lesson 2-3• We lock in the priorities from the assessment and build a plan around your game identity (how you win points). • High-quality reps with constraints: targets, tempos, and scoring that force the right decisions, not just clean hitting. • Serve + return becomes a focus early (first strike, patterns, and neutralising strengths). • You’ll start tracking simple KPIs: first-serve patterns, return depth, unforced error profile, and success in key patterns.

Youth players
Working with teenagersWith teenagers, I balance structure and autonomy. We start with a clear goal (performance, tryouts, rankings, or simply becoming more confident), then build a plan around 2–3 priority areas. Sessions are high-rep and purposeful: technical corrections kept simple, footwork and timing under pressure, and a strong match-play component so improvements transfer to competition. I adapt to growth spurts and workload (school/sports) to reduce injury risk and avoid burnout. I track progress with measurable targets and keep communication direct and respectful, so they stay motivated and accountable.

What you need to bringPlayers should bring their tennis racket, proper tennis shoes, comfortable sportswear, water, and a towel. Competitive players may also bring a notebook and energy snacks if desired.

What I can bringI provide all the necessary equipment for each session, including tennis balls, cones, and other training materials. Players only need to bring their own racket and essentials, everything else is ready on court.
