I am writing to provide my highest recommendation for Eric Guzman, PGA Professional, who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and skill in his work with military veterans through the PGA HOPE program. I have had the privilege of knowing Eric for four years in my capacity as Ambassador for PGA HOPE, and I can attest to his outstanding character and professional abilities.
I first met Eric when he began teaching the PGA HOPE Program at Mariner's Point Golf Course, where he has now served as an instructor for four years. This assignment presents unique challenges, as the majority of participants are veterans from the VA Substance Rehabilitation Unit at Menlo Park, each courageously fighting for their recovery while utilizing golf as recreational therapy. Eric has consistently shown a remarkable ability to relate with these veterans, demonstrating the patience, understanding, and sensitivity required to work effectively with this vulnerable population.
As an instructor, Eric exemplifies excellence in every aspect of his teaching. He consistently delivers instruction in a compassionate manner, taking the necessary time to ensure that fundamental concepts and techniques are thoroughly understood by each participant. His teaching style creates an environment where veterans feel supported and encouraged, which is crucial for their therapeutic journey.
Beyond his instructional duties at Mariner's Point, Eric has shown exceptional initiative and innovation. He developed and currently manages the PGA HOPE Playday Program at Crystal Springs Golf Course, a groundbreaking initiative that blends instruction with recreational play. For three years, he has successfully coordinated these sessions twice monthly while maintaining excellent relationships with course management, the PGA HOPE Program administration, and veteran participants.
Eric's initiated a prepay program model that has become the standard for all PGA HOPE playday sites throughout Northern California, encompassing approximately 40 locations. This achievement demonstrates his ability to think strategically and implement solutions that benefit the broader veteran community.
What sets Eric apart is his genuine devotion to teaching, his natural ability to connect with veterans and earn their trust and participation, and his unwavering dedication to the mission of using golf as a therapeutic tool for our nation's heroes. These qualities make him an extremely valuable asset to any organization fortunate enough to work with him.

I met Coach Eric Guzman through the PGA Hope program. His approach to coaching and teaching has improved my game and others in the PGA Hope program. Instead of overwhelming people with complex adjustments, he focuses on simplified fundamentals. His ability to diagnose swing flaws and explain corrections in a way people could easily understand is remarkable.
Since our lessons, my game has seen improvements. I've been able to hit a draw, gain yards on my drives, and get up-and-down around the greens. More importantly, I see fellow PGA Hope players enjoying the game as well. I've seen them have more confidence on the course.

As someone new to golf, I was missing the ball often and knew I needed help building a solid foundation. After just one session with Eric, I immediately saw results—my 7 iron distance improved from under 100 yards to over 120 yards. What stands out most about his coaching is how approachable and focused his style is. He doesn’t overwhelm me with too many adjustments at once, but instead helps me work on one key improvement at a time. The use of video playback on the simulators at our facility has been especially valuable, allowing me to actually see my form and understand what needs to change in my swing. Beyond private lessons, GolfersBZ also partnered with Eric for an indoor tournament, where it was clear how extensive his network is in the golf community. On top of that, he has experience running youth summer programs, showing his versatility as a coach and his commitment to growing the game at every level.
