Private Reading and Writing Lessons & Tutors in Hialeah Gardens, FL

With a Master's degree, I have spent 35 years teaching ELL, ESL, Writing, Reading Comp, Theater, Public Speaking and Debate. I retired in 2016 and continue to tutor. I have also written 6 children's books, a play and a movie script. I want to help you grow. It is my passion

I tutor elementary students one-on-one and in small groups, including students with IEP and 504 supports. I start by finding what they know, then set a simple goal for the session, model the skill and give scaffolded practice with quick checks for understanding. I'm big on encouragement, clear steps and steady routines, and I build in short breaks or multisensory tools when attention or anxiety show up. Families get quick updates and next steps so we're all aligned.

"I’m so happy we found her to tutor my 3rd grader! My child was struggling with reading and comprehension, and I’ve noticed such a difference since starting tutoring. She is very patient, caring, and really knows how to work with kids. She makes learning fun while still making sure they understand what they’re doing. My child actually looks forward to tutoring now, which says a lot! I’ve seen a big improvement in both confidence and schoolwork. I would definitely recommend her to other parents!

I have worked as a Writing Center tutor at the University of Miami since 2021 and teach both English and English for Speakers of Other Languages at a community college in Broward, Florida. I have taught English in a number of countries including Indonesia, Singapore and Greece and enjoy working with both native and non-native speakers of English. My classes are intended to stretch and challenge you, whilst being enjoyable and achievable, and you will always find me friendly and respectful.

I started as a paraprofessional for kindergarten in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. I did that for eight years. During that time, I received my master's degree in Elementary Education. Then, I started working as a kindergarten teacher. I taught kindergarten for 3 years. Then, I taught third grade for one year before leaving St. Thomas, VI. A few years later, I became an intervention teacher, which I really loved.

I cultivate curiosity and clarity through reading and writing, guiding learners to more confident and precise expression. As a dedicated coach with several years of teaching experience, I combine structured literacy methods, individualized feedback, and a patient, engaging approach to build comprehension, fluency, and strong writing skills.
