Jonah Brooks is a Chicago-based guitarist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He studied jazz guitar with Henry Johnson of the Ramsey Lewis Group and was a finalist in the Wilson Center International Guitar Competition in 2017. After finishing school, he worked as a full-time professional guitarist in Chicago while honing his skills in music production. In 2021, he founded Top Shelf Music Library and has since released multiple sample packs in partnership with the Sample Lab group. With almost 3 million streams to his name as a solo artist gained in 2023, Jonah actively pursues opportunities in music production, performance, and collaboration.

I'm a dedicated guitarist and composer with 29 years of guitar playing and 20 years of teaching. I teach and play many styles, and my specialty is classical guitar. I earned a Bachelor's degree in guitar performance from Columbia College in 2015, and my passion for music continues to grow.

We were very lucky to find Scott Reichard who was willing to work with our daughter. Scott is very patient, super encouraging and able to adapt to his students learning style and skill level. He has a unique teaching style but he knows how to teach in a way that keeps his students interested with songs they enjoy while still teaching basic chords and musical theory. Concerts were organized through the school where he taught and Scott made sure his students were prepared and excited to perform. My daughter has just completed her first year of college and although she no longer takes lessons (life got in the way) she still pulls out her guitar regularly and can play just as effortlessly as she did when she was taking lessons. We owe her love of playing and her ability to keep learning new songs to Scott. He is an awesome teacher and we highly recommend him for all!

My guitar journey began uniquely at the age of 19 while taking Piano Lessons. I then became the lead singer of a band named Tension at the age of 24, who performed at such venues as Mutiny, The Underground Lounge, and the Elbo Room, as well as for parties and a wedding. I still play to this day with the guitarist James and his brother Seth I have also written and performed my own Spoken-Word rap and poetry since I was a teenager to this moment . From Classical to Rock, Pop, Opera, R&B, Rap/ Hip Hop, and everything in-between..I am well-versed and have written and performed many songs in each of those genres. I(We) will begin by personalizing y(our) lessons based upon your goals and expectations.. while building both your confidence in yourself as an artist and performer... and in me.. as an instructor, brother, and friend.
