Dr. Christopher Hepburn, a distinguished musicologist and concert pianist, bridges classical traditions with contemporary wellness philosophies through his innovative approach to sound and musical expression. With a PhD from Texas Tech University focusing on sound embodiment across Western and East Asian traditions, Dr. Hepburn's scholarship culminated in his groundbreaking 2023 publication on premodern Japanese song poems. His academic appointments include prestigious fellowships at the University of Southern California, where he has contributed to interdisciplinary studies in history, art, and culture with his advisees taking first-prize at various creative symposia. His pianistic lineage traces directly to Beethoven and Chopin through the Leschetizky-Czerny and Horszowski-Mikuli pedagogical traditions, enriched by studies with renowned pedagogues Leslie Spotz, Lora Deahl, and Tatiana Roitmann. This classical foundation, combined with masterclasses from Christopher Elton (Royal Academy of Music), Jennifer Elowsky-Fox (Berklee College of Music), and Nicoletta Conti (student of Leonard Bernstein), informs his electrifying performances—once literally startling an audience member during a particularly dynamic interpretation of the first movement of Beethoven's Tempest Sonata. In 2018, he gained international recognition through his contribution to the pioneering complete works recording of Alexey Stanchinsky for Grand Piano Records distributed by Naxos. Dr. Hepburn's research on sound embodiment has earned acclaim at prestigious institutions worldwide, including Oxford University, Columbia University, and Waseda University (Japan). His scholarly work uniquely synthesizes historical performance practices with modern wellness concepts, creating a globally holistic approach to premodern and contemporary musical understanding and expression. As a member of the Leschetizky Association, Dr. Hepburn champions an adaptive teaching methodology that honors traditional technical excellence while embracing contemporary pedagogical innovations. His approach seamlessly integrates classical rigor with modern cultural fluency—reflected in his passion for anime, manga, and digital media—positioning him at the intersection of historical preservation and future-focused musical evolution.
"Wow! He really cares about the health and well being of his students, especially those who are still in school and have outside schedules. The lessons are so much fun, and I can really see my progress.

I've been playing pickleball for at least 4 years now. I played tennis before that. I'm turning a hobby into a profession. I coach with intentionality, helping you form new habits with your swing, dinks, ball placement strategies and overall gameplay. I'm passionate about what I do and I hope to see you grow in your skill.

My baseball resume consist of starting all 4 years on varsity baseball in high school as well as playing on team California in the Babe Ruth World Series my sophomore through senior year. As I transitioned into college, I spent my first season at College of Sequoias in Visalia, Ca. This year was prime COVID, so all junior college athletics in the state of California was paused. Due to the circumstances, I decided to come home and play baseball at the junior college in my hometown, Bakersfield College. During my time at Bakersfield College, I underwent back to back season ending shoulder surgeries. After my second shoulder replacement, I thought it was over. Every odd felt against me and all I wanted to do was give up. But, my junior college coach at Bakersfield College refused to let me think irrational and had other plans for me. After completing my associate’s degree, I decided to take one last attempt on the game that I love. My 3rd season at Bakersfield College, I managed to hit .531 in 13 games played, with 3 hrs and 15 RBI’s gaining my self a full ride scholarship to play college baseball at Texas Wesleyan University, where I finished up my playing career. Due to how my playing career has shaped me, it inspired me to pursue a career and passion in Sports Psychology. With having all the baseball knowledge from the great coaches throughout my career and understanding the psychological aspects of baseball and sports through my schooling and personal experiences, I think I would be a great fit for any of your baseball needs!
"Coach Hubbell really understands me and how I learn stuff. He push’s me hard but never too much. I’m getting stronger and better because of Coach. The best part is he believe’s in me.

I hold an AAS in Guitar Performance and am a few credits shy of a BA in Music from UTA. With over 19 years of teaching experience, I've shared my passion with students of all ages and styles. Currently, I weave melodic tales as the guitarist for La Pompe Dallas (Gypsy Jazz), the upright bassist for Justin Pickard and the Thunderbird Winos (Best Americana Dallas 2023) and The Vinyl Stripes (Rockabilly & Surf). My musical journey spans classic rock, blues, bluegrass, country, swing, gypsy jazz, rockabilly, and more. Jazz Pianist Bernard Wright mentored me as a bassist in his Jazz trio for several years. I explored diverse instruments like piano, clarinet, mandolin, dobro, oud, and African percussion. Songwriting is a forte, having been a finalist in Dallas contests. In addition to music, I once designed Media Matrix audio gear for Peavey Electronics but chose the path of playing and teaching music over-engineering. Join me for an enriching musical experience – let's dive into the world of melodies and harmonies together!
