Coach John Pettaway – Basketball Coach | Culture Builder | Player Developer With over two decades of coaching and leadership experience, John Pettaway is a passionate and proven basketball coach committed to developing players on and off the court. Known for his no-nonsense yet nurturing approach, Coach Pettaway combines deep basketball IQ with a strong focus on character, discipline, and culture. Currently serving as Head Coach of the Lawrence Woodmere Academy Post-Grad Program and Associate Head Coach for the PSA Cardinals 8th and 9th Grade Teams, Coach Pettaway has mentored and trained athletes who’ve gone on to succeed at the Division I, Division II, and JUCO levels. Pickleball is meant to be a fun game! We'll have some fun, get better at the skills you want to, and I'll be able to provide additional instruction based on what I see in your game. I combine technical precision with patient, encouraging instruction. My work as a director and/or playwright has been seen on stages in New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Chicago, Florida, California, and Utah. I teach acting, voice for actors, Shakespeare, directing, clowning, and voiceover. I have taught or directed students from ages 16 to 60. I also coach actors for auditions.

I’m a former Division I quarterback and collegiate football coach with 20+ years of experience developing elite quarterbacks, wide receivers, and offensive systems. I’ve served as an Interim Head Coach and Passing Game Coordinator at Long Island University, and I’ve coached multiple conference MVPs, All-Americans, and record-setting quarterbacks. My quarterbacks have led the NE-10 and the nation in key performance metrics including passing yards, touchdowns, third-down efficiency, red-zone production, and total offense, with several earning Conference MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and All-Conference honors. Over a five-year span, every starting QB I coached earned All-Conference recognition.
