I’m Derrick, an 20 year old 5.0+ Pickleball player (Playing in APP/PPA pro qualifiers soon!) based out of South Florida! In the past I’ve played tennis, table tennis, badminton, as well as a couple of other sports. I have coaching experience from tennis and bowling. But I want to teach the sport I’m most interested in, Pickleball! Excited to get on the court together. Heads up! Although I did do commercials Professor Pickleball. I specialize in developing a solid and well thought out game. Although the process is slower early on, the better you get the easier it will be to get better! My best shots are my drops/resets and my backhand flicks. And my playstyle is a very shifty “joker” style of play. I am also quite flexible with times and locations as long as there is a court open in the area!

I’m a University of Miami graduate with an M.A. in Global Health and Society and two bachelor’s degrees from FIU. I tutor K–12 students and support SAT/ACT preparation, with a focus on making difficult concepts clear and manageable. I’ve been playing golf since age 12, reaching one of the highest levels of amateur golf in Ireland, competing alongside players like Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, representing my province at the Interprovincial Championships, and winning my state championship. I specialize in TrackMan analysis, so we can get properly technical, recording and dissecting your swing to understand exactly what’s happening and why. Alongside that, we’ll work through playing lessons focused on course management and short game, chipping and putting, which I believe is the most important part of anyone’s game. I’m a scratch golfer with elite, tour level ball striking ability, matching pro caliber numbers in distance and precision. "I’ve only been golfing for about a week, and when I first started I could barely even make contact with the ball. My swing felt super awkward, I was stiff, and honestly golf wasn’t even that fun because I had no idea what I was doing. Simon helped me fix pretty much everything from the ground up. He corrected my stance, showed me how the swing is actually supposed to feel, and gave me simple pointers that were easy to understand and apply. The difference in just one week has been pretty crazy. I’m making consistent contact now, I can hit multiple clubs, my swing feels way more natural, and I don’t feel nearly as stiff or awkward. Most importantly, I’m actually having fun playing now. If you’re new to golf or just want someone who can explain things in a way that actually makes sense, I’d definitely recommend Simon.
