As a late bloomer, finding the love for basketball again later on in college I’ve played against NBA-level talent and professionals around the states including here at home in Denver. I’m currently active and could continue my professional career but am staying in shape and coaching for now till more opportunities arise. I love giving the knowledge of the game I’ve received back to whoever wants it, I’m here to help anyone of any age get better or learn so they can enjoy the sport!

I am a teacher by profession. After teaching science 18 years in South Korea, Mexico City, and Denver, i found pickleball in 2017. I was hooked right away and started filming my tournaments to improve. I achieved my goal of making it to Nationals and have won many medals in Men’s, Mixed, and Singles. Pickleball is my life’s passion, and I have now pivoted to teaching pickleball at Gates Tennis Center. I can help you elevate your game through active play, effective analysis, and coaching. As a former Division 1 golfer at The Ohio State University, golf has been integral to my life for over 15 years. With a scratch handicap and a peak performance of +4, I've honed my skills to excel on the course. A former national junior champion, Carey represented his native country of New Zealand in international play before attending and earning a B.A. in Business Management from Colorado State University-Pueblo,where twice he was awarded All-American status and selected to represent the NAIA national team. Carey has earned many accolades, has several USTA/USPTA certifications, and has been as high as #308 in ATP rankings. Some of his other impressive stats include being inducted into the CSU Pueblo Hall of Fame for Men's Tennis, being a Two-Time All-American in singles at the University of Southern Colorado, being the 2006 USPTA Junior Development Coach of the Year, the 2005 Rocky Mountain News 5A Boy's HS Coach of the Year, the 2004, CHSAA 5A Coach of the Year, and the Colorado State Open Singles Champion. When not teaching tennis, you might find Carey on the dance floor doing the Cha-cha.

I have been running and lifting consistently for half my life and coaching Army soldiers for the last 5 years to improve their running speed and efficiency. Through my years of training and coaching I have developed an ever evolving style and mentality for training that I would like to use to help people achieve their goals and live healthier lives.
