Nathan knew we were beginners and gave us a little time to handle the paddle and ball (the first time we had touched either one) and made sure we understood the rules, etc. We had watched plenty of YouTube videos so he didn’t waste too much time explaining everything. Our first lesson was serving. He gave us plenty of time and instruction to try out different techniques. He was always encouraging but wasn’t afraid to say what he saw areas that we could do better in. Next we worked on receiving the serve. He gave us some instruction and time to feel it out. He gave us 2 different things to work this on and it’s up to us to take what we have learned and practice, practice, practice. We’d be fools if we thought only taking lessons is enough. We left with a good idea of what we need to work on ourselves this week if possible. Nathan was instructive and corrective but also gave us time to work out what works for us individually regarding how we are comfortable holding the paddle and the different ways to do it. Looking forward to our next lesson.

I played pickleball for a few days before asking Michel to coach me. He is very friendly, patient and methodical in his approach teaching the proper warm ups and stretches and giving tips on how to practice at home and how to play on open courts/open plays in public parks and private indoor ones.
