“My son loved the lesson. Derrick's communication and knowledge are very good.”Arda O., parent

About DerrickI’m Derrick, an 20 year old 5.0+ Pickleball player (Playing in APP/PPA pro qualifiers soon!) based out of South Florida! In the past I’ve played tennis, table tennis, badminton, as well as a couple of other sports. I have coaching experience from tennis and bowling. But I want to teach the sport I’m most interested in, Pickleball! Excited to get on the court together. Heads up! Although I did do commercials Professor Pickleball. I specialize in developing a solid and well thought out game. Although the process is slower early on, the better you get the easier it will be to get better! My best shots are my drops/resets and my backhand flicks. And my playstyle is a very shifty “joker” style of play. I am also quite flexible with times and locations as long as there is a court open in the area!Go to profile

Reviews for coaches at Bass Park

The lesson had a good focus on drill work, especially on the third ball and kitchen line battles, which I think is pretty helpful for sharpening specific skills. Though, I’m curious to see how well I can transfer these practices into actual game situations , still, Gustavo’s approach seems to keep things practical. There's a definite emphasis on improving through targeted drills, which is useful, and I’m hopeful I can build on this in future lessons by simulating real gameplay more. If you're into detailed, strategic practice, you might want to give Gustavo a try.

Honestly, this lesson helped me focus on strengthening the area we targeted, which was quite helpful. Though I still have room for continued progress, I feel more confident about my game now and appreciate Gustavo's measured approach to teaching. Still, I look forward to building on what we covered and hopefully improving even more in the future. If you're considering a lesson with Gustavo, it’s worth trying out to see that focused attention firsthand.

I think Gustavo's lesson was quite helpful, especially since we concentrated on improving my forehand, backhand, and my serve and return of serve. Still, I believe I’ll benefit from more focused practice to keep progressing. Anyway, I appreciated the clear guidance and the way he pointed out specific things to work on , a pretty good experience overall. Though, I hope my next lesson with Gustavo will help me see continued improvement in my game.

Oh, I suppose I should mention, Gustavo's lesson was quite focused on practicing my serve, which was actually pretty helpful. The tone was steady, and I think I’ll be able to build on that. Still, I’d like to see more variety in the drill approaches, though I’m optimistic about seeing how my serve improves over time. If you’re looking to tighten up specific techniques like serves, Gustavo might be worth trying out.

I'm pretty satisfied with how the lesson went, especially after reviewing those three strokes I was struggling with. Still, I think there's room to get even better, but I feel more confident now. Gustavo's focus on specific techniques really helped me notice my progress, quite helpful. Though my lessons are wrapped up for now, I wouldn't hesitate to reach out again if I need some extra guidance.
