Beginner training plan
Your first lessonAssessment and comfort. I start by understanding their experience level, goals, and any physical limitations. Then we work on grip, stance, and basic forehand stroke with light drills. No pressure—goal is to build confidence and see if they like the sport.
Lesson 2-3Foundation building. We refine grip and stance, introduce backhand basics, and do footwork drills. I focus on consistency over power. We play some easy points so they feel progress.
Lesson 4-10Technique and rallies. Serve introduction, volleys, court positioning. More longer rallies, basic strategy (where to stand, how to move). They start feeling like real tennis players.
Lesson 11+Game development. Working on weaknesses, introducing spin, building strategy and match awareness. Depending on goals—competitive play, fitness, or just fun—we scale intensity.
Youth players
Working with teenagersI focus on building confidence and competitive edge. Teenagers want to improve fast and compete—so I emphasize technique with real match situations. We work on strategy, mental toughness, and handling pressure. I keep it direct: no sugar-coating, but lots of encouragement. If they're competitive, I push them; if they're casual, we keep it fun. I also speak their language—literally (English, Spanish, Portuguese) and figuratively.
