About your tennis coach

Hi! I'm Nicole, a former junior tournament player. I have over 5 years coaching all ages and levels, from beginners who are just learning the basic strokes to tournament players working on strategy, conditioning, and mental toughness. Should you wish to train with me, I will make a personalized lesson plan to help you achieve your specific goals according to your level, experience, and desired time commitment. As a coach, I believe it is important to develop all parts of a tennis player. Sportsmanship, mental toughness, and strategy are as integral to a strong player just as much as the strokes and physical elements of the sport. If that sounds like something you are interested in for yourself or for your children, please reach out. Tennis provides lifelong rewards, and I look forward to being a part of your tennis journey.

Monica
We love Nicole! She’s great!
Elizabeth
I wasn’t sure my daughter was old enough to really benefit from formal lessons but I’m so glad we tried. They play lots of games together that keep her interested and having fun.
Raymond
Thank you for helping me get back to tennis after ankle surgery. Nicole’s instruction was encouraging, though firm, and got me playing again.

After more than a decade away from tennis, I wasn't sure what to expect returning to lessons but Nicole made the transition back incredibly smooth. She quickly identified the weakest areas of my game and provided clear, focused feedback to help me rebuild my fundamentals and set goals for me to work on. Her patience and easygoing teaching style created a comfortable environment and she consistently took the time to reinforce techniques until they actually stuck. My game has improved noticeably since working with her, and more importantly, my love for the sport has been fully reignited. Highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking to pick up the game or get back into it

Nicole is one of the best tennis instructors I’ve seen. I grew up playing but my daughters wanted lessons from… not their dad, so I found Nicole and couldn’t be happier! Within their first semi-private they were already getting the ball over the net. So the results were there, but the girls also felt super comfortable with Nicole and are big into tennis now. Mission accomplished! Thanks Nicole!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn our first lesson we will cover how to hold the racquet, forehand stance, and the basic forehand stroke. We will also discuss the student’s short and long term tennis and fitness goals.
Lesson 11+Lessons 11+ will be tailored to the player’s goals and strengths and weaknesses. We will use this time to perfect the player’s best strokes while also working to ensure the player’s weaker shots improve. This will also be the time for the student to express interest in particular skills or strategies, and I will also be working in drills for specialty shots such as approach shots, overheads, slice, and specialty serves.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 will focus on honing stationary groundstroke swings and incorporating movement. We will also begin to practice the serve. Our goal by lesson 10 is to be able to rally at half court (short court).
Lesson 2-3In lessons 2-3, we will learn the basics of the backhand, and the basics of volleys.

Youth players
Working with kidsKids’ tennis lessons are highly, highly dependent on age and other sports experience. For children 3-5 years old, a large part of our lessons will be spent on general athleticism, hand eye coordination, and comfort with the ball and racquet, taught through games and challenges. The other half of the lesson will be spent on basic groundstrokes and volleys. Ages 5-12 will also be working on the athletic skills mentioned above, but it will encompass less than 25% of the lesson. At this age, I will discuss with child & parent your goals for your child’s tennis future, recreational or tournament-focused, and we will adjust their learning program to match. Beginners in all age groups will be using red, orange, or green balls, at the instructor’s discretion. These are the same balls used in tournaments at their age level, and therefore are the best balls for young players to become comfortable with. For young players who have advanced to tournament level, I will offer additional coaching resources including attending matches to give personalized, match-specific coaching after tournaments and preparation for upcoming matches, as well as arranging friendly matches between students.

Working with teenagersBeginners: I will discuss teens’ goals directly with them, and we will tailor their lesson program to fit. These lesson plans will look more or less the same as the adult learning plans for beginners, though teens often progress more quickly! Non-beginners & tournament players: I will discuss the player’s goals directly with them. At this level we will be focusing on closing any gaps in their game, strategy, mental health and toughness, conditioning, and honing one or two of their best strokes to become weapons.

What you need to bring- for adults, own racquet preferred - for children, please bring appropriately sized racquet - please wear tennis sneakers with non-marking soles and athletic clothing that is easy to move in - water - hat or sunglasses if needed - sunscreen

What I can bring- basket of balls - conditioning materials
