Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI rally with a person in the service box the way anyone might warm up, to assess. Then, if a player is a beginner, for example, I would talk loosely about tennis in general, the court, how the game works. How to hold the racquet, and first exercises are about general ground stroke techniques and ready position. How we hit forehand and backhand from the baseline. I usually begin with beginner balls in the service boxes as I have found that works well.
Lesson 2-3I keep working on racquet grip and ground stoke technique and I gradually integrate volley technique, approach and net form. I integrate occasional questions about the rules of the game as a way of using repetition so that it begins to stick (by the time we get around to playing points, that should be easy to remember). I use simple exercises to generate feel and court sense.
Lesson 4-10Continuing with the previous as a routine. And I don't push learning to serve right away but I would start adding serve technique in short exercises while still spending the most time on groundstrokes and volleys. And simple drills that focus on control and court awareness .
Lesson 11+I would be integrating some exercises that involved a variety of shot making including overheads and drop shots, etc., but retaining most of what has come before. If the student is progressing quickly I would add more challenging drills at the end of each lesson.

Picked up Tennis because I wanted to incorporate some cardio, very happy I decided to learn alongside Ben. He's super patient, calm, and experienced. Highly recommend him, especially for someone learning for the first time.
