Hey there! My name is Ian and I am a New York city based Actor, Musician and Teacher! I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BFA in Musical Theatre and have been teaching for about 5 years! I was recently on the first Broadway National tour of the Tony Award winning musical, DEAR EVAN HANSEN. During the pandemic, I founded a youth musical theatre program in the DC/Maryland area called OnCue Theatre which has now impacted hundreds of kids across the DMV and is now one of the top youth theatre programs in the area. I pride myself on creating a safe, personal and exciting work environment for my students where they can explore and unlock the full potential of their voice and musicianship.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI like to start off my first lesson by hearing you sing something that you love! I like to get a baseline for where we start and discuss what your vocal goals are! I always want to create a safe environment where we can learn and grow and tailor the lessons to your specific need. Then we will go through the basic building blocks of singing and some important warm up and cool down exercises that will keep your voice healthy, strong and happy.
Lesson 4-10Continue to work through repertoire and establish a deep connection to the warm up and cool down exercises. My goal for my long term students is to help them sing consistently for the rest of their life. We will find your unique and authentic voice and discuss how your voice will continue to grow throughout our studies and the rest of your life!
Lesson 2-3We will discuss more vocal exercises in depth and start talking about the mechanics of the voice. What muscles are we using when we sing and how can we use our body to create the easiest, healthiest and most unique sound we can make. We will also choose repertoire that will challenge you but that you love singing. Throughout our sessions we will use these songs and implement the vocal exercises to gain a greater understanding of the voice.

Youth players
Working with kidsMost of my training is working with kids ages 6-15 and I absolutely love it! I was in voice lessons at a very young age so I understand what it is like to be in their shoes. I create a very low stakes and welcoming environment where my students feel comfortable to be themselves and explore their art. I have a great way of communicating with younger students and explaining complicated concepts on a more digestible level.
Working with teenagersBeing a teenager is hard and teaching teenagers is even harder but I think I have cracked the code. I was a teenager not too long ago so I understand what’s going on in their heads. Sometimes things are incredibly frustrating, especially in a learning environment. I like to take the pressure of them and just make learning fun. Whether that is cracking jokes or decompressing a tough day, I like to establish a personal relationship with them so that they feel comfortable with me.
