Your first lesson1. Welcome & Warm-Up (10 minutes)
• Introduce Yourself and the sport: Quick background on pickleball.
• Dynamic Warm-Up:
• Light jog around the court
• Arm circles and wrist rolls
• Side shuffles
• Paddle taps (tapping ball with paddle to build hand-eye coordination)

2. Court & Rules Overview (5 minutes)
• Show the court layout:
• Baseline, kitchen (non-volley zone), sidelines
• Explain the basic rules:
• Serve underhand crosscourt
• Ball must bounce once on each side before volleys (double bounce rule)
• No volleying in the kitchen
• Games to 11, win by 2

3. Grip & Ready Position (5 minutes)
• Introduce the “shake hands” grip
• Demonstrate ready stance: knees bent, paddle in front, feet shoulder-width

4. Forehand & Backhand Groundstrokes (15 minutes)
• Drill: Drop-hit and swing
• Player drops the ball and hits it over the net using forehand
• Repeat for backhand
• Partner Rally Practice
• Start short, build distance
• Focus on control over power

5. Serving Basics (10 minutes)
• Teach underhand serve mechanics:
• Paddle below waist
• Hit ball in upward motion
• Must clear the net and land in opposite diagonal service box
• Drill: Practice 5-10 serves each

6. Kitchen Awareness (5 minutes)
• Explain the non-volley zone (7 feet from net)
• Practice stepping up to the line and stopping—“No volley in the kitchen!”

• Short rally game (half-court or full-court depending on comfort)
• Play to 5 points
• Encourage basic serve, return, and groundstrokes
