About your piano coach
My name is Gabriel Rojas. I’m a young film composer, pianist and cellist. I’ve been playing piano for 14 years and cello for 8 years…classically trained on both. I have 9 years of teaching experience and I am passionate about and dedicated to forging personal authentic relationships with students and families while ensuring a well rounded and high quality learning experience for any students I have. I graduated from westmont college with a bachelors degree in music composition and have recently acquired a masters degree in screen scoring from the Jacob’s school of music. I’m excited to work with you!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonTypically I gauge where the student is as far as experience, exposure and information absorption rate. I spend a lot of time getting to know my students so they feel comfortable to learn with me.
Lesson 11+At this point and beyond we will continue to work hard and in addition to that I’ll have a conversation about how they think they’re doing. As far as content and lesson structure goes, we should have established that before this point, so not much will have changed in that regard. The first year of lessons are very important as there is much to go over and learn. Most of the beginners materials will be conceptual and technical.
Lesson 4-10By this point we should be familiar with each other and their should be a level of understanding on my part as to where the student can go and what they’re capable of at the present moment.
Lesson 2-3We dive right into learning technique, theory and whatever pieces are in their wheel house. I usually recommend books that we can go through together.
