About your piano coach

Hi! I’m Dean—a pianist, songwriter, and music producer from Seattle, Washington. I’ve been playing piano professionally for over 13 years and was fortunate to further my musical studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a dual degree in Music Production & Engineering and Songwriting. During my time at Berklee, I had the privilege of studying piano under esteemed professors such as Laszlo Gardony and Alain Mallet. After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles to continue pursuing my musical career and share my knowledge with people just like you! I have experience in a wide range of styles, including pop, R&B, jazz, and classical. Additionally, I’ve spent years working with keyboards and synthesizers, developing a specialty in them—so if that’s your interest, I’ve got you covered there too! I’m incredibly passionate about music and teaching, and I’m genuinely excited to get to know you and help you on your musical journey!

Since Dean has been playing piano for over a decade and has studied at one of the most notable colleges for music, there’s no doubt he’s the most fantastic teacher for those looking to learn. Dean has a strong passion for music, and is always looking to improve his students’ abilities and his own as well, which is an admirable quality to have in a teacher. He pushes his students to be the best they can be through patience and encouragement. If you want someone who not only takes his time to educate and explain, but truly cares about his craft and is passionate about sharing it with the community, Dean is your guy. He is the best.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson is beginners is a chance to break the ice and for me to learn about you. We’ll talk about why you want to learn the piano, and formulate the clearest path to get you where you’d like to go. The more I learn about you, the better I can teach you!
Lesson 11+Beyond that, I guide you through the material, changing things as they are needed and always molding the lesson to help you grow as a player and performer!
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 are about being consistent and seeing if the material we’ve decided on is beneficial to your learning.
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2-3 is about bringing in material such as books and worksheets that we can test against your learning styles. Whether you just need to learn a single song or want to figure out ways create your own music, we’ll find the perfect fit for you!

What you need to bringMaybe you have a piano or keyboard at home you typically practice on, but if not no worries! Just bring your brain and be prepared to learn while having fun :)

What I can bringDepending on where our lesson is located, I have several keyboards I can provide for our lesson, as well as an upright piano! I also have numerous books and materials from my time at Berklee to help refine the right teaching techniques for you!
