About your guitar coach

I’m a versatile guitarist with over 15 years of experience performing, teaching, and composing. I specialize in innovative acoustic guitar arrangements, improvisation, and live performance. My work has found success in the music industry with over 10 million combined streams, including more than 2 million annual streams on Spotify and 250,000 monthly listeners at peak. I've also taught guitar for over 9 years with students from over 20 different countries and ages from 7 to 68. I have also 5 years of teaching experience at an engineering school for kids so I'm very knowledgeable in working with youths as well. I believe my patience and dedication to all subject matters relating to guitar music elevates me to do well in a position like this.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonGetting to know each other and then testing the student's prior music knowledge to craft the right curriculum.
Lesson 11+Confidence in performing multiple simple songs at an efficient level. Being able to understand basic theoretical concepts applied specifically for guitar. Developing an ability to self learn and self correct.
Lesson 4-10Being able to play, with fluidity, many chords in the correct sequences (progressions); getting cleaner and more confident sounds in basic songs and exercises.
Lesson 2-3Starting to grasp basic chords and hand positions, while being able to recognize different sounds made on the instrument.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe get to know goals and objectives of the player and which aspect they want to advance further in.
Lesson 11+Working on long term and complicated musical projects with the student themselves or a setting of their choice. Working on recording these musical ideas, then analysing and developing professional musical skills based on recordings and real time performances.
Lesson 4-10Focusing on the weakest link discovered in prior steps, and honing it until the student is able to self identify and correct as they go. Developing a steady rhythm of learning new concepts and techniques that aid in the creative process.
Lesson 2-3Gauging some complicated conceptual things to see if they are understood at an efficient level. Testing level of proficiency in theory, improvisation, tonal control, and creativity in songs or phrases.

Youth players
Working with kidsPatience and encouragement are everything. Kids want to be praised to develop interest. Learning can be rewarding to them if during the process itself, it feels like they're accomplishing great tasks and goals.

Working with teenagersTeens tend to lose concentration especially in today's day and age, so developing curriculum that is intriguing and cool, and provide a level of quick gratification could be very helpful to reaching and keeping their interests.

What you need to bringGuitar and recording device such as a phone or camera.

What I can bringJust a guitar.

Alexis Valsamakis
I am Alex from Greece. I started lessons with Bob in 2022 working on improvisation to start. He explains things in laymen's terms that are so easy to understand. I was able to get into a great music school in Berlin due to his guidance. We now work on my original guitar songs and both my first and second pieces got into the finals of the Natasha International Fingerstyle Competition.. I'm still surprised at my progress.
Linda Zhang
I'm a long-term student of Bob's. I was able to rapidly develop and creative my own set of original fingerstyle acoustic guitar songs and placed very high in International tournaments throughout the span of over two years of lessons with him! He's an excellent teacher and communicator with a vast understanding of music and everything acoustic guitar related.
Adi Avram
I took lessons from 2020-2023 and they were transformative to my playing, and I learned to play super complicated accompaniments to my singing from him.
Andy Khau
I'm a student of Bob's from California and he guided me from my very first song. I was able to learn by ear many complicated acoustic fingerstyle pieces because of him.
Andrew Kim
Bob was my college friend and my first guitar teacher. His talent was always absurd and stunned people close to us. I learned so many things in a very short time with him after officially working together for a while. Unfortunately I had to stop due to tendon problems in my fingers, but I miss those days greatly.
Ayman Boussarhane
Bob has been my mentor since I started playing guitar, but I've taken very few official lessons from him. The guidance he gave me changed my life, from the musical analysis we do, to the range of techniques he introduced to me. Highly, highly recommend him!!
