We started my 6 year old daughter in the Beginners class on Saturday mornings about 4 months ago and she absolutely loves it. Coach Vince and his coaches are extremely patient and great with young children as they can adapt to teaching them in a way that works for them. She has been able to quickly learn basic golf skills (driving, putting and pitching) and can now move up to the more challenging classes.
Beginner training plan
Your first lessonLike most instructors, we will work on proper Grip, Aim, and Setup. What we will focus on beyond most beginning instruction, is working on how to move properly. Things such as weight transfer and turning are the staple of good play.
Lesson 11+The remaining lessons will basically be the same except that we become more precise and the game becomes more mental. Remember, our progress is reliant on the student practicing and making the changes.
Lesson 4-10By the 4th-10th lessons, assuming the student has been practicing and playing, we have to begin on course strategies to lower scores. Most students become enamored with technique and the scores don’t get better while they are actually swinging better.
Lesson 2-3On the second and third lesson, we may need to refine the strategies we have already begun. A lot of the follow-up lessons and overall growth is specific to the student and what changes they have made relative to the prior lessons.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonFirst lesson with an advanced player is to assess the state of their overall game. We need to see how they practice, amusing characteristics that may be causing the score issues. We obtain information from the student before the first lesson relates to their goals and the things they believe are keeping them from those goals.
Lesson 11+Finally, we will continue this process as needed. It’s a growth mindset and if done right, the student will grow steadily and the fastest possible.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 will be relative to the findings from the assessments. We will develop a plan to change the things to affect the score positively,
Lesson 2-3Lesson 2 will consist of an on-course lesson to see how their play in the course is affected by technique and their mental game (behavior and course management)
Youth players
Working with kidsI am ADM-certified (American Development Model). The ADM sets recommendations for the types of lessons as well as quantity of practice the students partake in.
We are very strong in performance and we use game-style strategies to achieve this.
Working with teenagersFor the teenagers, they should be considering playing beyond so competition preparation is important. A focus on more practice time and more rigid technical structures are common.
What you need to bringIt’s always advantageous if the students have their own clubs . Proper attire such as collared shirt and no denim.
What I can bringWe utilize Capto putting devices, Flightscope launch monitors, in addition to many other technology. We have clubs for beginners if necessary. So, bring yourself and willingness to learn.
