As a former FoodCorps (Montana) service member, I connected elementary age students to real food and the process of growing a garden. Specifically focusing on cooking with students, teaching and creating lessons on healthy food choices, facilitating farm-to-school connections and creating an overall schoolwide culture of health. Also secured grants, and coordinated community service days for the restoration of a park. All of this is done while emphasizing indigenous food practices and promoting food sovereignty on the Flathead Reservation.
