Coach Jaay has been very good at breaking down the fundamentals required to play basketball and possibly turning this into a career in my future . Beginner training plan
Your first lessonGetting Familiar with handling the ball ; taps , touches , figure 8s(no dribble) , stance , triple threat position.
Lesson 11+Dribbling and understanding how to dribble the ball the proper way (fundamentally) . Dribble drills , shooting drills , one on one etc .
Lesson 4-10The fundamentals to defense , what’s it takes to play defense and what a good stance is .
Lesson 2-3Shooting form , the basics to holding the ball and what key points into having a great shot!
Advanced training plan
Youth players
Working with kidsI tweak my lesson plans only to be fundamentals , depending on the level of skill that player (child) has .
Working with teenagersDepending on their grade level and skill level as well . All things will be taught based upon how they are progressing over the weeks.
What you need to bringStudents should bring the designated equipment you may think you will need for basketball . Required equipment would normally be : Basketball shoes (indoor/outdoor) it’s your preference, basketball shorts (no sweats or jeans ) , athletic shirt(breathable t-shirt) , water bottle ( water will not be provided unless it is said to the parents /player at initial meeting (parent/player meeting) .
What I can bringEye goggles , cones , water bottles (water will be limited on the coaches end due to the location provided) , jerseys for (Offense/Defense). Basketball balls (if the students wants to bring their own that’s is also fine as well, responsibility will be on the student and or parent .
