About your basketball coach

My name is Jared McBride. I grew up in a sport-loving family and have participated in a wide variety of sports all throughout highschool and two semesters in college, including basketball (only sport played through college), track & field, cross country, football, soccer, and baseball. Through my years in athletics, I have learned how to balance competitiveness with professionalism. I am eager to help others grow by utilizing what I have been taught and what I have learned in my 10 years of basketball experience. I intend to not only train athletes to perform to their best of their abilities, but to most importantly keep a positive outlook on progression. Something as fun as athletics should never feel like a job to those participating, which is why I believe I can stand out and professionally train those to never look back on their past and regret the way they were taught to train, which I have unfortunately seen happen to peers. My blend of a decade of hands on experience and eagerness to help others exceed their athletic goals prioritizes not only success, but a supportive physical and mental health too. I am willing and ready to make winning fun! Coaching format: When it comes to basketball, there’s not one position I can’t help. From on the court success as a point and shooting guard, I quickly had to learn the roll of a post when my college trainers wanted to further utilize my height when needed. I attend to professionally and mathematically keep track of progression, focus on any major or minor flaws, and again, keep the learning experience positive.

➕Collegiate Experience

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFirst day is evaluation. I will find a base level of skills, including endurance, form, awareness, and mechanics. This is not a harsh evaluation, but one that will give me just an idea on the level of experience.
Lesson 11+Intricate lessons pinpointing the things I’ve seen that will need final touches. It is hard to put to words what these can be considering how different each player is, but there is always improvement. It is important to know that with each lesson, no skill or mechanic will be ignored. There are drills and exercises that I started in middle school that stuck with my training until the day I stopped playing.
Lesson 4-10Awareness, critical thinking, and learning when to strike opportunities. As important as it is to be consistent at shooting and dribbling, learning how your team and even the opposition plays is as important. While integrating the drills used in past lessons, we will focus on how to read others and make decisions based on awareness, and most importantly, controlling the tempo of YOUR game.
Lesson 2-3Mechanics!!! The most important thing to correct and/or improve early is mechanics in shooting, passing, dribbling, defensive mobility, and the variety that comes with all. And as it will be with every lesson, endurance.

Youth players
Working with teenagersLessons with adults can apply significantly to the youth. Things such as mechanics, agility, endurance, awareness, and critical thinking all start while you are a youth player! It’s how you apply the training, forming it in such a way that makes it easier and suitable for the youth. Keeping the training positive and fun as well as disciplined.
