We will begin my talking about the players experience with the game (What they know/What they don’t know). Then, I will introduce a stretching routine before we begin the lesson. Depending on the kids preferable position, infielders will go into a defensive series (short hops with no glove and glove, footwork, fielding and throwing.) and after go over a batting practice routine with me. (single hand of tee, split-grip of tee, front toss open stance, closed stance, normal swings.)
The more lessons we do the more my players will get accustomed to what is supposed to be done but more importantly having fun and being loose. By this time my player should know what to do when he/she arrives. (stretch, throw, fielding progressions, hitting) with the implementation of fun challenges and games so it’s not just about baseball but having fun and making memories through the process.
In these lessons we will do the same schedule but implement more advanced work such as (throwing off back foot, double play footwork/feeds, hitting batting practice off of live throwing (from me) and after very little conditioning enough to get the blood flowing but not exhausting the player.
We will follow the same schedule the only difference is that we will jump straight into our lesson making sure the player fully understands how these different drills help their skill and gain more advanced knowledge of the game.
