First I will ask you about your strengths and weaknesses and if there’s something in particular that you want to work on. Normally I start almost every lesson with a few points of skinny singles to identify any strengths and weaknesses and what we should work on. From there I will give you a few tips and then run some drills to work on them. Throughout the lesson I will continue to give you tips as I identify ideas to help with your game, and we may adjust the drills but still mainly focusing on one particular skill.

Advanced Pickleball Lesson (60 Minutes) 0:00–0:05 — Assessment & Goals • Quick rally to evaluate: • Consistency • Shot selection • Movement • Ask: What are you struggling with? (speed-ups, resets, defense, etc.) ⸻ 0:05–0:15 — Warm-Up: Controlled Dinking Crosscourt + straight-on dinks • Add targets (cones or zones) 👉 Focus: • Paddle out front • Spin + placement (not just soft) • Patience in extended rallies ⸻ 0:15–0:25 — Reset & Transition Game Drill: Mid-court reset • Feed faster balls from baseline or mid-court • Player works on soft resets into the kitchen 👉 Emphasis: • Absorbing pace • Dropping ball into kitchen under pressure • Moving forward after a good reset ⸻ 0:25–0:35 — Speed-Ups & Hands Battle Drill: Dink → speed-up → hands exchange • Start with dinks • Coach initiates or player chooses attack 👉 Focus: • When to attack (high balls) • Where to attack (body/backhand) • Fast hands, compact swings ⸻ 0:35–0:45 — Third Shot & Fourth Shot Strategy Drill: Serve → return → third shot • Alternate: • Third shot drop • Third shot drive 👉 Add: • Fourth shot decision making (reset vs attack) 👉 Goal: • Build point construction, not just execution ⸻ 0:45–0:55 — Situational Point Play Play points with constraints: • Only crosscourt dinks until attack • Must hit a drop before coming in • Start in defensive position 👉 Coach live feedback: • Positioning • Shot selection • Court awareness ⸻ 0:55–1:00 — Debrief & Takeaways • 2–3 specific improvements • 1–2 drills to practice on their own • Mental focus tip (patience, shot discipline)

If we’re going to train indoors at the Picklr, all you need to bring are court shoes, and I would also recommend indoor lenses to protect your eyes. For outdoors, make sure you wear weather appropriate attire. In winter it may get cold, but you may also warm up underneath so make sure you can shed a layer. A hat and sunglasses may be helpful, Sunscreen or a light outerwear will help protect you from the sun as well. Tennis our pickleball shoes would be best, but running shoes are ok for occasional use as well. But long term, the rough court surface will wear down your shoe tread.
