I like to meet students where they are, both overall (what's the music you love!) and how they feel week to week. I've played guitar since I was 14, and I love the instrument not only because it rocks, but also because of its rich history and its standing as an art object. A DC area native, I was initially introduced to music, though somewhat reluctantly, through enrollment in the church choir at the age of four; however, I quickly grew to love it. I first experienced the guitar while living in Hong Kong when my third-grade teacher would play for them everyday at the end of school. I began taking lessons while living in Hong Kong and continued when I moved back to Washington DC. I have been playing the guitar for over 25 years and teaching for over 15. While my foundation is deeply rooted in the classical tradition, I enjoy teaching a variety of styles. My passion is to empower others to find their voice through the guitar, no matter their level of experience.
