“Maya was a patient, kind and supportive guitar teacher. My daughter looked forward to her lessons each week, and left feeling confident. Maya was always open to Annabelle's ideas (hello, Taylor Swift!) and encouraged her to try new things. She is an accomplished musician and we were very sorry to see her go!”Annie (., parent · shared by Maya

About MayaImagine getting to play the part of music that makes people dance. With 18 years of experience, I provide personalized guidance, helping you master techniques and unleash your musicality. Let's groove!
I have been performing as a bassist for over 18 years, and teaching for over ten years. As an instructor, I meet students where they are and tailor my teaching approach accordingly. Lessons are collaborative; I want to get to know each student and your individual goals and learning style in order to create an open and comfortable learning environment. My extensive musical background allows you to choose music YOU like to play, and through each song we will work on specific technical, harmonic, and rhythmic concepts. I use my experience as an active working musician to inform the lessons and ground everything you learn in real-world application.
About me: I toured the US and internationally with Future Teens, an indie rock band with over three LPs on our resume. Future Teens has been featured on NPR, The Boston Globe, and WBUR, and was Boston Music Awards’ 2019 Alt/Indie Artist of the Year.
I studied bass performance at Berklee College of Music, where I earned the Bass Department Outstanding Performer Award and Scholarship. I have a BA in English and French from Skidmore College (‘13).
I have worked with students between the ages of six and sixty and welcome students of all ages.Go to profile99OutstandingOnline

“My daughter Addison began taking with Marli about a year ago now when she had just turned 6 years old. I was initially hesitant about signing Addison up for lessons due to her age and her tendency to be shy, especially in new situations. Marli was incredible with Addison from the very first introductory lesson. Not only is Marli a gifted musician, she was able to adapt to the needs of a 6 year old (no easy task for anyone.) Over the past year I have observed Addison grow both musically and personally.”Pat F., parent
