I fell in love with the guitar when I was 10, and have stayed in love ever since. I'm a self-taught musician who grew up playing blues music and teaching myself rock songs. I've since played with punk bands, post-rock bands, cover groups, and accompanied vocalists. I've written songs for and been featured on a number of releases, and played in all sorts of venues, from dance halls to basement punk shows. I started teaching students in 2017, and I love introducing people to this wonderful instrument and helping them reach their goals, whether that's learning to play their favorite songs, or helping them break through to the next level as an intermediate player. I tailor my lessons to my students according to their experience, goals, and musical interests. I'm comfortable with any style of music and any level of experience, having taught everything from Gordon Lightfoot to Polyphia. Looking forward to hearing from you!

My musical story began at age 4 when I first embraced the guitar. Transitioning through private lessons at Brickhouse Music and Smith Music College, I earned my Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance in 2013. Playing in diverse bands across genres like jazz, blues, and rock, I've devoted the last 13 years to sharing my knowledge through private lessons for youth and adults. Overcoming vision impairment challenges, I've come to see music as a healing tool, fueling my deep passion for teaching. 2018, I proudly opened the Shedore School of Music, inviting others to join me on a transformative musical journey.
"I knew I needed individual guitar instruction but was always hesitant because I knew I was terrible and was worried about frustrating an instructor. Dan's nature immediately eased all of my worries and made me wonder why I didn't do it sooner. He is an excellent instructor and has the patience of a saint. He tactfully pointed out areas I needed work on and was also quick to point out things I was doing well. He would spend as much time as needed on something I was struggling with and would always make sure I was comfortable before we moved on to something new. He's an extremely talented player himself and was very good at noticing things that I didn't even realize I was doing. If I was starting to develop a bad habit, etc., he always had a suggestion or something I could try to help me over a certain hurdle. There are many good guitar players, but not all of them make good instructors. Dan seems to have a passion for both playing and instructing, and he certainly has the talent for both. I would recommend him to anyone who has an interest in either learning to play or becoming a better player.

As a teacher, my mission is to demystify music theory, empowering students to grasp the guitar in a way that fuels their creativity. Let's embark on a musical journey where theory meets expression!
"Paul White has been a tremendous teacher for me in better understanding music theory. It was always a part of music I couldn't get my head around until I got help from Paul. He made it easy for me to get different music theory concepts and gave me exercises to do on my own to better imprint in my mind. He is patient, challenges you, and makes learning fun. I definitely recommend Paul to anyone who wants to become a better guitar player, theory knowledge, and recording as well. He has a great attitude and competent in the language of music.
