I have taught over 100 students from age 4 to ages 65+! Over ten years of active gigging and recording experience in guitar and voice and five years on bass. (Spanish speaker too). Happy to drive to a student’s home within reasonable distance. Holds a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music from Point Loma Nazarene, specializing in guitar, voice, songwriting, performance, and music business. Versatile in various styles such as jazz, rock, gospel, funk, metal, math rock, and more. Songwriting credits on Chicago rapper Tobi Lou’s "Live on Ice" record. I released a full LP in 2023, showcasing creativity and musical prowess. I am eager to share my love for music, help students unlock their potential, and create beautiful tunes together! For 25 years, I've guided aspiring guitarists, sharing my knowledge and experience to help them reach their full potential. Some of my students have gone on to be professional working musicians and landed gigs with Ziggy Marley, Gwen Stefani and many more. I will help you unlock your musical intution/creativity and give you creative ways to practice and learn songs , solos etc . I will also teach you ways to track your progress. I believe playing and learning music should be fun, and I make it easier on you to understand certain concepts from a technical, theoretical and practical point of view. I accept beginner to advanced. I can tailor lessons to your needs , the style you want to play, and I can create assignments to help you reach your goals from a professional working musician's perspective. You will find just after a short period how much you can improve your skills and feel the confidence to continue to your goal. My teaching experiences have taken me through schools , clinics at music stores and workshops. I also coach bands , teach beginner to intermediate bass , and music production one on one or group. A little about my work as a musician : Over the years, I toured, recorded and played with numerous bands and artists such as, Carly Simon, Ben Taylor, Mike Keneally, Bryan Beller, Armande Sabel-Leco, Paul Barrere, Kenny Gradney and Bill Payne, Pato Banton, Brendon Small's Galaktikon, Bird York, Janet Robin, Gwen Stefani, Eve, The Roots and more ! I also have theatrical show experience with numerous plays and with Cirque Du Soliel's 'Totem' , ' Corteo' and 'Zarkana'. All these experiences have contributed to the variety of styles in my arsenal that I play and teach. Group performances include 50s and 60s rock, swing, big band, country, jazz, blues, and folk. I play and teach electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin, lap, steel, ukulele, banjo, and bass guitar. My journey with the guitar began at 8, launching into private lessons soon after. Auditioning for and attending the Orange County School of the Arts Guitar program from 7th to 12th grade expanded my musical horizons, training me in classical, flamenco, jazz, and studio engineering using Logic Pro X and Protools. Beyond school performances at renowned venues like Disneyland, House of Blues, and jazz festivals, I delved into the LA punk scene and various local gigs. With four years of teaching experience at Guitar Center, I've instructed students of all ages and levels, embracing diverse styles and adapting to group dynamics. Teaching extends beyond the norm for me; I've worked with children and adults with special needs, aiming to make music accessible and enjoyable for everyone. With a passion for playing and teaching, music has been a constant and significant part of my life, shaping my journey into a harmonious blend of artistic exploration and education.
