For four decades, I've lived and breathed the game of golf, even competing on the mini-tours. I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience to help golfers of all skill levels elevate their game and unlock their true potential on the course.

I am an amateur golfer from China with 15 years of playing experience and have studied with five coaches. My best score is 80. I started learning the sport at the age of 40, and my athletic ability is quite average. While learning from different coaches, I noticed a problem: they are too professional and don't understand that our bodies, especially as we get older, simply can't turn as much as they require. Therefore, during my practice sessions, I rely on my own exploration to improve my performance. Many of the issues I encounter are common among amateur players, issues that professional coaches who have been playing since childhood have never faced. So, if you are a beginner, if you are someone who is getting on in years, or if you have average athletic ability, I might be able to teach you better than a professional coach could.

I was certified in 2017, through the USGTF. I have 20 years of experience in golf learning, training and playing. I coached a USGLL golf team to a second-place finish; I have volunteered for the First Tee program in Orange County; I was actively involved in the Los Alamitos High School Girls Golf Booster Club from 2012-2016; I managed several golf fundraisers for the Los Alamitos High School Girls Golf team and before being certified I taught several individuals, including my wife, to play this great game. From being mentored, playing, reading books, speaking with other instructors and watching some of the “Greats” play, I continue leaning and understanding more and more each day about this game. I teach at Whittier Narrows Golf Course in Rosemead, California, and I am currently the Head Golf Coach for the Valley Christian High School varsity girls golf team and the Assistant Coach for the boys junior varsity golf team located in Cerritos, California. I have a love for the game and am truly inspired to pass on what I have learned over the years.

Hello everyone! My name is Nick Chavez and I am one of the golf instructors at MNML Golf Club in Pasadena. For those of you who don’t know me here below is a bio: Born in Pasadena, Nick from a young age played many sports but chose golf as his passion. Growing up he learned from different professionals in the local area while competing in junior tournaments all around Southern California. He attended Maranatha High School right here in Pasadena and competed on the golf team there. From there, he earned an athletic scholarship to play for Providence Christian College also right here in Pasadena. At Providence, Nick had many accomplishments in college including an individual win at the 2021 William Jessup Warrior Invitational in Rocklin California which was also the first in the schools history. That win earned Nick a spot on the official World Amateur Golf Rankings. Nick also won the 2022 Club Championship at San Gabriel Country Club in his first ever time competing in the event. While Nick has been competing in golf for most of his life, he has also been instructing as well. Throughout high school and college, he helped coach junior camps with the First Tee of Pasadena, Ace Golf Academy, and with San Gabriel Country Club. Nick also volunteered coaching at his alma mater Providence Christian for a short time as well. Nick says “I believe that golf is a sport for everyone. Anyone can play golf and if you have not started yet it is never too late in your life to start that journey. As much as I love playing and competing, I enjoy instructing so much more. Whether it is their full swings, course management, or even their mental side, I want to be there for people to help improve their game. I understand how difficult golf can be at times and I want to help players better themselves. I want to keep each session simple. I do not want to give my students too much info to make them overthink. Each individual is unique and I shape your swing to your own capabilities utilizing the most efficient way to achieve success , most will improve dramatically and will have the knowledge to fix your own game downstream!
