In the first lesson with an advanced player, I start with a short warm up and then go straight into baseball actions at their normal speed. I watch them throw, field, hit, and move through a few common game situations. I also ask about their goals, current team, and any specific issues they are dealing with, such as command, velocity, making more consistent contact, or a certain position. From there I identify one or two main priorities for them and we spend the rest of the session getting focused, game-like reps in those areas. We finish with a clear summary of what we saw and what we will target next.

Cleats and their own glove and bat, if they already own them. A batting helmet and water bottle are also recommended. If a player is missing something, just let me know ahead of time and I can usually help cover it.

They should bring a bat, helmet, glove, if doing catcher work then catching gear, and water.

With younger kids, I keep lessons simple, upbeat, and very hands-on. We focus on real baseball actions at a level that matches where they are right now: throwing, catching, fielding ground balls, tracking fly balls, and taking swings. I use short, easy-to-understand cues and lots of reps so they can learn by doing, not by standing around listening. The pace, difficulty, and goals are adjusted to each child, whether they are brand new to the game or already have a season or two under their belt. The main goals are to build confidence, establish good habits early, and help them leave the field feeling proud of what they did.
