Hello! I am a biologist with a Master's degree in marine science. During my education, I spent several years tutoring peers on statistics, genomics, organic chemistry, physics and zoology. My style of teaching focuses on understanding structural concepts to solve not just the current issues students are struggling with, but provide deeper understanding that will help in the future. I am open to working with all students, but find I am most helpful to curious students who ask questions.

After spending 3+ years building the #1 pickleball program company-wide at Life Time, I'm excited to offer private lessons to players of all skills and demographics across the Portland metro area. My name is Joey Potts, and I’ve played professional basketball for three years. Two years overseas in Romania and Norway, and one with the Salem Capitals in Oregon. I’m a 6’9” power forward who competed at the junior college, Division I (Oregon State), and NAIA (Oregon Tech) levels. My experience across multiple levels gives me a unique perspective on the game. I’ve coached and trained players ranging from 5 years old to high school and college athletes.

For over 25 years, I've loved the game of basketball. I have coached middle school as well as the last 8 years at the high school level. I specialize in the teaching of fundamentals for beginners. I strive to instill a sense of hard work, dedication, and motivation into my players to take with them into their life and careers.

I have a double Masters degree one in Clinical psychology the other in Forensic psychology. I have been a Mental Health Counselor for over 20 years. I love teaching people how to deal with and over come any life challenges that gets in their way.

Fueling potential and sculpting success on the field for the past seven years, I am dedicated to cultivating both athletic skill and strategic understanding in aspiring football players. With proven experience, I foster a supportive environment where dedication and discipline meet passion. I have coaching experience with several varsity position groups, both offense and defense. I also have several years experience as a varsity football special teams coordinator, defensive coordinator, and strength and conditioning coach. I am most passionate about strength and speed development, running back and linebacker play, and development of skills (basic to advanced).

Let's get you sewing gorgeously! Starting from any skill level or none at all, tell me your project goals, and I will get you there. I began formal training in sewing and pattern work at 7 years old. I have been sewing ever since, mainly as a theatrical costume designer, but I also quilt, embroider, pattern draft, paint fabrics, sculpt leather, etc. I've taught beginning hand sewing to 4 year olds all the way up to costume design and alterations for theater students.
