One of my latest ventures includes spearheading the introduction of pickleball at a brand-new indoor tennis location, boasting an impressive potential of 24 pickleball courts. Here, I facilitate both children and adult programs, nurturing the growth of pickleball enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds. With nearly a year of experience at my second-largest location, equipped with 14 indoor courts, I specialize in corporate functions catering to groups ranging from 50 to 200 people. This dynamic setting allows me to foster teamwork, camaraderie, and skill development among participants, making each event memorable and impactful. In addition to my roles at these locations, I proudly serve as the top pickleball instructor for DC Park Recreational, contributing to the growth and accessibility of pickleball within the community. Through private lessons, clinics, and participation in tournaments, I engage with a wide spectrum of players, conservatively interacting with over 300 individuals each week. With a passion for pickleball and a commitment to fostering its growth, I am dedicated to providing exceptional instruction and fostering a welcoming environment where players can thrive and excel.

As a professional tennis player with an ITF ranking and a 9 UTR, I bring high-level competitive experience to every lesson. I was named Freshman of the Year at Benedict College and became a national champion in my home country. I’ve represented my country internationally and competed in France, Egypt, Kenya, Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana, and Togo. With years of experience working with players of different ages and skill levels, I’m passionate about helping students build confidence, improve their technique, and reach their goals on and off the court.

I am a local Baltimore tennis coach with over 15 years of playing experience and over 5 years of teaching experience! I am also a PTR Certified Tennis Professional. I have played in many ITF (International Tennis Federation) professional tournaments in different African countries and in Europe. Teaching and playing tennis is one of my biggest passions! I captained my college tennis team in Kansas before I transferred to Coppin State University which is a Division 1 school in Baltimore, Maryland. The past 3 summers I have worked at different summer camps where I taught countless tennis lessons to kids. I have also been working for the Baltimore Tennis Patron where I teach kids, teens and adults.

Coach AJ Yamin hails from Caracas, Venezuela, widely known as one of the top tennis coaches in the DMV area. As a junior player AJ traveled in the South American COSAT tour, played #1 for North Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh, PA and college tennis in the Midwest. With over 40 years of playing and 30 years of coaching experience under his belt. Prior to moving to the region, Coach AJ taught at Sutton East Tennis Club in New York City and Total Tennis in Saugerties, at the beautiful Catskill mountains of upstate New York. Attended Graceland University on a full tennis scholarship between 1997 and 2001, where he was a nationally ranked NAIA Division player and team captain, leading the Yellow Jackets to its highest team ranking of #7 in the nation. Coach AJ is currently a member of the International tennis team for the Departmental Tennis League or DTL. The DTL is composed of federal agencies and other government organizations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The league was founded in 1915, DTL is consider the oldest tennis league in the US. Coach AJ has been a DTL champion 3 times, 2007 & 2008 with the United States Patent & Trademark Office team , 2022 with the World Bank team. Coach AJ has been a USTA Certified Tournament Director since 2003, and has served in that capacity at hundreds of events in the junior circuit, averaging, over 2,000 players a year. Coach AJ is also a Universal Tennis Rating Tournament Director and in 2023 became a certified UTR Paid Hits professional. Apart from his two current roles, Coach AJ has volunteered two seasons as the former Head Coach at Hayfield Secondary High School in Alexandria, Virginia, leading the HAWKS twice to the Virginia High School League Tennis Regional Tournament 2006 & 2021. AJ holds a dual degree in Business Administration and Information Technology, with a Master of Science in Management of Information Systems.
