Hello! My name is Sonja, and I am a dedicated educator with years of experience helping students build strong reading, writing and language skills. As a certified reading teacher, I specialize in supporting English Language Learners, struggling readers, and students who need extra support to reach their full potential. I believe every learner can succeed when given the right tools and individualized instruction. My lessons are student-centered and designed to meet each student's unique needs.

My goal is to challenge the youth through the sport that has immensely impacted my life. I aspire to inspire and enlighten youth about the true essence of playing soccer. With a background in "total football," I believe every player is equally essential. I prioritize communication, movement, pace, and awareness in my players. My coaching style begins with open dialogue and complete respect for the game. I emphasize having fun, academic success, and integrity (sportsmanship) as fundamental principles. These values are integral to any program philosophy. I am confident that if we meet, you will see, hear, and feel my passion, love, and enthusiasm for the game. As a former UPSL Academy player, I know first hand what it takes to compete at a high level and most importantly, I know how to help players get there. With over 10 years of playing experience, I bring a deep understanding of the game that goes beyond just running drills. I teach players how to think on the field, how to read situations, and how to compete with the kind of effort that WILL get you noticed.

With 15 years of softball instruction, I foster growth in athletes of all levels. I played collegiate softball at the University of South Carolina Beaufort where I competed in a highly competitive Division 2 conference. Throughout my two years at USCB I pitched over 100 innings with 74 strikeouts. Prior to my time at USCB, I started my collegiate career at Mclennan Community College where we were able to compete at the NJCAA College World Series, earning national runner up. I played at Tyler Junior college my sophomore year where we competed in a highly competitive conference where I pitched in over 60 innings with 40 strikeouts. I was gratefully given the opportunity to play for a small national team in Puerto Rico where I pitched the organizations first win. Growing up I played for the Hotshots Organization where I was able to be coached under some of the best and able to compete at a high level. Playing at the collegiate level taught me discipline, perseverance, and the importance of balancing academics with athletics. Off the field, I was voted by my conference to be the Student Athlete Advisory Committee President. I was awarded Presidential honor roll, Deans list, Chancellors list, and graduated Communication honor roll. Now that my playing career has come to a close, I’m excited to share my knowledge and experience with others. I want to give back to the game by helping younger athletes build their skills, develop confidence, and understand the value of hard work and teamwork. Whether it’s pitching mechanics, game strategy, or simply encouraging players to believe in themselves, I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of softball players and helping them reach their full potential.

I bring 20 years of experience to the court, playing D1 indoor and beach volleyball as well as professional beach volleyball. Ive also coached D1 volleyball for the last 7 years now.
