With a passion for the game, I bring my experience as a former college athlete to every lesson. For the past 2 years, I've been helping players elevate their pickleball game. I am dedicated to fostering a fun and supportive learning environment.

Hello! My name is Sonja, and I am a dedicated educator with years of experience helping students build strong reading, writing and language skills. As a certified reading teacher, I specialize in supporting English Language Learners, struggling readers, and students who need extra support to reach their full potential. I believe every learner can succeed when given the right tools and individualized instruction. My lessons are student-centered and designed to meet each student's unique needs.

Fueling passion and potential on the pitch for 8 years, I guide players to excel, blending technical skill with strategic thinking. I holds a USSF National C License and brings more than eight years of coaching experience, along with six years of high-level playing experience. My background includes collegiate competition and time in Nigeria's amateur league system, giving me a diverse and international understanding of the sport. As a player, i competed for State House FC in the State League and represented the University of Abuja from 2012 to 2016. My coaching résumé includes roles with Elite Soccer Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, and Kevin Nelson Soccer Academy in Ottawa, Canada, where I worked closely with youth players in structured development environments.

I have a strong passion for teaching the fundamentals of basketball, and then building from there. I am a detail-oriented and patient teacher that builds basketball iQ. I specialize in developing point guards and combo guards through complex ball handling, passing, shooting, and play-making. I also take pride in developing mid-range jump shooting.

I’m Coach KeY! Volleyball has been a meaningful part of my life for many years, first as a player and now as a coach. I competed collegiately as a Middle Blocker, Outside Hitter, and Right Side Hitter, which gave me the opportunity to understand the game from multiple positions and perspectives. I began my college career at North Central Texas College (NCTC), where I played Middle Blocker as a freshman before transitioning to Outside and Right Side Hitter as a sophomore. I continued at Huston-Tillotson University as a Right Side Hitter before returning to Middle Blocker my senior year. In 2019, I ranked 14th in the NAIA in blocks, an accomplishment I’m especially proud of. Coaching has allowed me to share the lessons volleyball has taught me while connecting with athletes at different stages of their development. I’ve primarily coached athletes ages 15–17 with the Hurricanes, and I’ve also enjoyed helping younger players, including 12U athletes, through First Triumph, camps, and clinics. During private lessons, I focus on getting to know each athlete and understanding what they want to improve. Whether we’re working on hitting, blocking, passing, serving, footwork, positioning, or volleyball IQ, I create training that helps them feel more confident and prepared on the court. My goal is not only to help athletes become stronger volleyball players, but also to encourage their discipline, confidence, and love for the game.

With more than 12 years of experience as an educator and basketball coach, I am passionate about developing student-athletes both in the classroom and on the court. My commitment to leadership, mentorship, and performance has been strengthened by earning a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Psychology. I strive to inspire confidence, build character, and help individuals reach their full potential through education, athletics, and positive leadership.
