Basketball was my first love. Although I didn’t play at the collegiate level, I had the opportunity to coach at the Division 1 level with the University of Portland Men’s Basketball program. During my time there, I led private workouts for our players, assisted with player development, and helped run youth camps on the side. I have worked with high level recruits and seen firsthand what separates good players from great ones. I believe that mastering the fundamentals is what truly elevates a player’s game. My goal is to help players build confidence, sharpen their skills, and understand what collegiate programs look for in their athletes. Every player’s journey is different, so I tailor workouts to match both skill level and personal goals. Above all, basketball is a game of heart — learning how to compete with passion while maintaining control is what transforms a player, both on and off the court.

Giving you ball control and game vision. I was born and raised in Brazil, where soccer has always been a central part of my life. I played at both the college and professional levels in Brazil before moving to the United States in 2003, shortly after earning my degree in Economics from the Federal University of Viçosa. Since then, I’ve been living and coaching in the U.S. for over 20 years. I became a USSF-certified referee and coach in 2005 and have dedicated myself to training athletes of all ages and backgrounds ever since. My coaching experience ranges from working with high-level athletes to individuals looking to improve their fitness and well-being. I have a strong passion for private coaching because it allows for focused attention, customized feedback, and a deeper understanding of technique. Unlike group settings, private sessions ensure that each client receives full attention, leading to faster progress and a more meaningful experience. My goal is to empower clients to take control of their fitness journey by combining expert guidance with practical tools. I believe in blending light gym-based strength training with high-intensity indoor or outdoor workouts to create balanced, effective programs that boost performance, health, and confidence.
"My son has been taking lessons from Marcello for last 3 years. On an average he takes minimum 5 weekly lessons in summer and minimum 5 in winter/early spring. We would love to take more but between club/school soccer practices and games it becomes difficult. My sons technique has improved tremendously. At a recent tryout for a premier club team, the coaches said that technically my son has all skills needed for his age group and that he is up there with the best players. I give full credit to Marcello for this. Now my son needs to work more on his fitness.
